It's been a while since I posted here.... I see one thread about a brand of cat shields here. I live an hour from Houston and cat thefts are sharply on the rise in the region.
I just had a cat shield installed by our local dealer, Tegeler Toyota in Brenham, Tex. They only had three in stock so I grabbed one after I saw it. The service writer told me that they have seven trucks on their service lot with stolen converters and he said that they can't get the parts!
I think it's money well spent for peace of mind. A customer in the area who had recently had his truck burglarized installed security cameras around his driveway. Late one night he got some video of a sneaky character appearing with a big cordless recip saw. He dropped down, rolled under the truck and was back out in three seconds after he saw the shield.

Getting shields on mine here in Katy (western edge of Houston for the non-Texans) when back in town from work trip in July.
Can you send me detail on cost at that dealer? Otherwise, I'll order some individually.
Peace of mind thing...not 100% cure but helps.

You still need the rear plate as well. I haven't seen any of the dealers provide anything other than the front.

Was told by Taco Tunes and another member that the rear's are not where the money is and if they can't get to the front converters, they will most likely move on. (not an expert, just passing on information)

Most thieves probably don't know that though.

Still can't get to them easily so hopefully they will move on.

I was going to have a dealer put one of theirs on my Tundra while is was in the shop for cat replacement.
    That was 11/16/2021.
Then read more about Valhalla shields and ordered some at the end of January.
Was still going to have the Toyota shield installed, then I was going to sell it when the Valhallas came in.
The Valhallas were delivered 3 months later
But, all the cat parts have yet to come in to the dealership.
I'm day 210 of the Tundra being at the dealer.

So I told the dealer to cancel their shield.
I only wanted it to have some kind of protection waiting to get the Tundra back.
Toyota wanted $600 for the shield and installation, which probably cost them $200.
I paid a little over $700 for front and rear shields, security bolts, and a nut palate that makes installation easier with a TRD skid plate.

Besides that, the Toyota shields are inferior to the Valhallas in size..

Of course, TT told you that, he doesn't sell a rear plate.
He doesn't have the best reputation on the forum.
Try to post a link from his website.

Toyota CrewMax Speaker Installation Products (*********.com)

Although he does sell a nice door speaker adapter/spacer..

    I agree..

I could see them seeing the front plate, cutting the rears off, and taking them alone.
They aren't the brightest bunch those thieves.

They are so stupid they left my driver's side cat hanging.
Not smart enough to cut the rubber hanger as opposed to working it off the hanger.

Bowzer, I paid $567 drive-out for the plate shown in 1lowlife's post. Tegeler Toyota's phone is (979)836-1615. After I drove out the door this a.m., they have two left. I'd read all the other related posts on the topic before buying. Sounds like the Valhalla is a good product. I grabbed this one since it was a target of opportunity and I had the funds for it. IMHO, any theft deterrent is better than none.

Bowzer, (clarification) I'd recommend that YOU read all posts on this. I probably should have done so as well but cat thefts have increased sharply around here. A few weeks ago, a person saw someone crawling around in the HEB parking lot, dragging a recip saw and called the PD. A high speed, two county chase ensued until the driver abruptly stopped and surrendered. His accomplice ran into the woods and the big sedan they were in had a trunk full of freshly sawed cats.

Absolute BS. The meth head thieves stealing these don’t care. They'll steal the rear cats in a heartbeat. Just not worth the chance.
