Superwrap/Hyperdip/Plastidip

Has anyone tried chrome delete with any of the products in the title?

I’m considering hyperdip or superwrap, but can’t decide on which one would best match a midnight black metallic.

 

I just bought a platinum MBM and plan to do RED TUNDRA inserts front and back and then use plastidip for the 4x4 on tailgate and PLATINUM on both doors. THen I plan to do the brake calipers in RED as well. I will post photos once done

 

I’m wondering how it’ll be for the chromestache and chrome on the back bumper matched to MBM.

You should look at Hyperdip. I believe it’ll have a deeper and better black than plastidip. Hyperdip from Dipyourcar.com has it in satin black, piano black and black emerald metallic. And compared to plastidip, no glossifier necessary.

I’m curious how the inserts will look on the MBM too. For sure post pics when you do it! Thanks!

 

Avoid plasti-dip for chrome delete. I don't know about the others you listed. But I'm on my third delete product and very happy with Raptor Liner. Be warned, the spray cans take some practice.

 

Yeah I understand where your coming from. When done right though, it’ll look just as good as regular paint or wrap. Just need to match the right shade.

When using dip spray products, just like anything it’s all in the prep and install. It’s not the product as much as it’s the user/installer that matters if that makes sense.

 

I agree. Looks great. Fails quick in my experience. That stuff can't handle brush to a side mirror, for example.

 

I’ve used it on wheels, badges and front grills in the past. As far as my experience, it fails quick when not enough coats are sprayed on and it would be a PITA to remove. However, with the 4runners I used it on it has never failed on me even after a couple years. Has withstood the abuse a wheel and front grill gets without peeling or ripping/chipping. Badges never failed as well.

When the proper amount (8-12 coats/layers), it can withstand physical wear, debris, pressure washers, etc. and peels clean when you decide to change it up. But that’s just my experience. I have family and friends that has tried it and it didn’t hold up for more than a year and that’s cause they didn’t do proper prepping and didn’t spray on enough layers.

I plastidipped my rear bumper chrome, front emblem, and tailgate garnish. Came out great! Used alchohol to clean/prep, then several SUPER light coats as a base, gradually getting thicker. The thicker overall coating you put on it before calling it good, the better.

I had my entire canopy and emblems plastidipped on my 2018 Taco for 4 years and didn't have any issues, even running it through a traditional car wash 3x a week or more. Used some dip dissolver on the canopy and returned it to the factory color before I sold it.

I swear by the stuff. LOVE IT!

I might do a satin black on the rear bumper after seeing that. I was focused on making the chrome piece body color matched but that satin black to match the bumper instead actually looks factory and much easier than to get a metallic black done.

How did you match your chrome mustache on the front? Or did it come color matched?

 

I paid a shop to paint it, then wrapped it in 3m clearbra. Paint likes to chip away when applied to chrome surfaces so I wanted to be sure it lasts. There aren't really any good vinyl matches for the blueprint color so it seemed like the best option

 

Troa, what color plastidip or hyperdip did you use for the rear bumper?

 

i still argue the purchase of the painted parts looks the best as far as OEM an no worries on peeling or wrap issues.
