    Sweet.

Front grill could work. I posted a stock picture of the box from ProSpeed's site.

Front grille would require modding the box.

How did that system deal with water entry?

Avoid water crossings? lol. I didn't do aggressive off-roading in it, and it didn't have issues in the rain. I don't remember if there was a drain hole in the bottom of the air box but there might have been. I know Stillen makes a similar intake for the Tundra, but I'm still new to Tundra's and not sure it it fit's with the s/c? May just require a different tube is all

Copy. The intake tube on the PS is 4.5 inches. These other ones would be a downgrade or require more fab than I’m ready to do right now.

Thanks! Just to make sure, is this the general running thread for maggie and harrop s/c tundras? I know the title says Harrop but this thread seems more active with more relevant info for both than I've run across so far

I've got a TRD main assembly in the garage, and will be building the truck around it after I finish with the JK taking up my garage space atm

It has morphed into a broader topic.
Tuned Stage 2 is better than Untuned Stage 1. I think it was discovered that Stage 1 is safe but knocked which triggered the ECU to protect the engine and run less efficiently

Should be renamed to "General Supercharger Thread" or "Supercharger Tuning" since us Magnuson boys have nowhere else to hang out

Did ProSpeed not enlarge the hole for it for you?

They were very adamant with me that this had to be done.

The fender wall hole? I don't see anything on the product page that indicates this but I will continue to look into this.

For clarity: ProSpeed supplied the part, Nat Speed did the install.

    My shop was a bit hesitant to cut it and I reached back out to ProSpeed asking if it was definitely required and they said that they had tested with and without and it was an absolute requirement;

    Sweet, thanks for sharing this.

I'll read up on this some more to see if I can do this without a retune.

I may opt to run something from the front grille instead but it is getting kind of busy with all the heat exchangers.

The url in your image is page I was referencing and unfortunately the required SABM isn't even mentioned.

Yea, it's on the remote tuning page for some reason. ProSpeeds documentation is pretty bad all around I've found. I helped them to fix a few issues I found with it along the way.

So that reads like the MAF sensor maxes out, are they saying you need to upgrade the MAF sensor? If so is that part of their CAI kit or do they provide a link to an upgraded one?

Also what's the SABM I keep seeing

It only says for Whipple superchargers which I don't have so it wasn't something that ever came up. I'm not sure.

    Can't answer the first question.

SABM is Stock Air Box Mod. You basically cutout an additional hole in your fender wall to route a second coupler.

This was a big part of this thread in the pages prior. Essentially running a smaller pulley on the Harrop moves more air through the MAF using the stock 3.5” intake than the MAF can read. It is remedied by installing the MAF in a larger tube like the 4” magnuson or 4.5” Prospeed intake and then re-scaling the MAF for the larger diameter tube. If you’re running a magnuson with the stock pulley and the magnuson intake you don’t have to worry about it.

No to upgrading the sensor. If you increase the intake diameter where the MAF is mounted then you'll be flowing more air (larger area) but the sensor will still be in range. Think of it like the sensor can only measure air at 10mph or less hitting it, so if you double your intake area then you've doubled the flow before the sensor will read 10mph of flow---obviously units and stuff are different, and hopefully I'm not insulting your intelligence :D

The prospeed intake bumps the MAF diameter to 4.5" it sounds like. The Magnuson included intake is larger than the OEM intake (I forget what it is, I think I posted it a long time ago in this thread). Magnuson is like 4" and stock is 3.75" or something--and remember it's the area that matters so a small change in diameter is a large change in area. The reason all of this matters is the MAF can only read so much flow, so beyond a point it's maxed out and the sensor data is useless. Changing the intake keeps it always in the usable range, and likewise can be changed as more airflow is needed. For instance I've had canned tunes that had issues since I had the OEM intake before and then changed to the Magnuson and it threw the tune off.

The Magnuson stock uses a larger intake diameter than OEM, it sounds like the "stage 1" Harrop is fine with OEM diameter (maybe) but anything more needs a larger intake, and the Whipple needs a larger intake right out the gate. Doesn't mean it won't run, but at higher boost the sensor will hit a wall and stop being useful to the ECU.

I have often thought how we’ve been dragging the poor guy along for the ride. We really should have a general Supercharger discussion thread where anyone can pose whatever related question they want and the usual suspects chime in. This of course usually ends with more questions than answers. The discussion of the merits of the Stage 1 Harrop has been long over with it seems.

Even more so that tunes are available for all Gen 2.5s.

Maybe there is a point in this thread mods can chop and move over to a general thread as you and others have suggested.
