I don't have that feature, but this guy says it's the tailgate camera so you should be fine with a canopy on there

Here's a pic of an ARE contractor cap on my CM 6.5', from a 2014-2018 Silverado, picked it up for $200 so I rolled the dice on it.
I had an ARE contractor cap on my 1G Tundra and it worked great for the camping I like to do.
It ruined the lines of the Tundra at first, but it grew on me, thinking I might paint it matte black.

Just curious. What's a leer 100xr run? I have a snugtop on my '19 CM and it's been extremely handy on jobs where I don't have to pull the enclosed. Thinking I might have to get on for the '22. CMLB when it comes in.

Thanks. I don't want to pay that either. LoL I like the looks without one on there but I can't fit my miter saw on the base, under a bed cover.

Mine was quite a bit more with all the options (keyless remote, roof tracks, 2x vented sliding windoors, liner) - roughly $4K after tax :( tried to talk him down but they weren’t really budging since this is the only option “available”. How did you get discounts, @DexterL ?

I happen to work for a brand/ company that (most) people really like so I do a lot of trades for stuff- keeps my costs way down and pisses off my wife to no avail!

Exciting to hear you guys have orders and ETAs! I've been watching all the major brands' websites to see if they support our trucks yet and haven't seen anything.

I wonder if anyone will make a canopy that retains the factory bed camera functionality. Maybe a little window it could look through or something.

Just out of curiosity, what would be so bad about losing functionality in that camera? I have yet to really use it or see a big benefit or use case.

Anybody know if the 2 1/2 Gen Short Box toppers will fit the 3rd Gen?... Would love to have the option of a '14-21 topper if it would fit. Have a '22 Tundra coming mid July & starting to prepare for it.

I just emailed Softopper to see when they are going to have a 2022 model. In your opinion, would it be better to wait for a better fitting solution, or does the '21 top fit and function (fold and stow, seal and water proof, etc...) perfectly fine?

    Thanks for posting!

Has anyone ever tried Fas-Top? They have a tonneau/softopper combo that looks pretty slick. Love the Softoppers but it would be nice to easily take down and still have an integrated tonneau... Looks like they have a '22 option available but haven't reached out to verify.

If you're not in a rush I'd wait for the response from Softopper. The 2nd gen will fit and work well from what I found. I do not have any issues with mine currently. The fit on the front window panel could be better but that might change with the updated version. As for the water getting in... yes water can get in if you are using a pressure washer at the corners. It can be avoided if you're careful but these are not 100% waterproof. Even on my 3rd gen Tacoma that had a proper fit would still have water getting in at the same spots.

It uses a camera in the third brake light and not the tailgate. You'd lose digital rear view with a topper unless some sort of extension is figured out for the wiring and it could be moved.

Thanks, great feedback. Sounds like they are definitely waterproof enough for me! I am only concerned about rain on the highway. Pressure washer on the corners is a high bar! Thanks again.

So I called around to different Leer dealers here in San Diego and even a few places in Phoenix. The prices varied quite a bit from dealer to dealer, with the ones in AZ actually asking considerably more than right here in good ol So Cal. I'm going for a 100XR with some options (Army Green DC 6.5 bed, btw). My options are; Solid Win-door on passenger side, Thule tracks, drop down front window with slider, headliner and remote lock. The best quote I received was $3300, thats with tax and labor/installed. She/they said Leer just finished the mold for the 22 Tundra's and although typically lead time is 3 to 6 weeks, it could be as long as 3 to 4 months... So I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Edit: I should also mention that more than 1 dealer talked about how Snug Top recently moved their plant and how it didn't seem to work out too well for them... If you can pick up what I'm laying down.

You can still use the camera button to check the tailgate camera while driving, correct? It looks like it's an option in your screenshot to either use the bed camera OR the tailgate backup camera while driving (in the center 14" screen)

Installed a 2014-2018 Chevy/GMC 6.5 topper and it fits pretty dang well. Has some over hang as you can see in the mirror, but really happy with it overall. Perfect until I can order something more utilitarian next year. We are visiting Denver this weekend and Chris over at Suburban Toppers was unbelievable to work with. Super helpful and went extra mile to fit as good as possible.

Figured I would share this as I test it out. Fairly new to the full-size truck world, but, found this startup called Flated that provides an inflatable topper as well as other products. Easy to put on and take-off with no modifications to the truck. I haven’t tested it in the rain yet, but, is supposed to be waterproof.

It is a startup so I think they are still working through some things but, they are very responsive and willing to work with you on any issue you may have.

Here's some info for those of you that have an order in for a Leer topper... I got an email yesterday from my salesgirl with a reply to an email she had sent out to her Leer rep. She said:

"Good morning John, Leer does not have an ETA currently for the mold release date, they're having component issues with the distributor.
I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions. Kind Regards, Jackie Ricardo."

Just an fyi for those of you who are expecting a leer shell anytime soon. I have my order in as well. I'm using a soft tonneau in the mean time. The sooner the better.

I think it activates or deactivates whether you can view certain cameras based on your speed. Driving fairly slowly I can view them all, but your options become more limited at higher speeds (Just bed cam or tailgate cam).

Just got off the phone with a pretty large canopy company around me. Guy on the phone said LEER is still 1-2 weeks from the final mold being finished…. Then construction begins on the XL and XR. So still some time for LEER at least. Trying to find a soft canopy. Does seem like anyone is near done for those.

What are your initial thoughts on this? Looks kinda fugly, but I like the idea and versatility. Kind of a hybrid between a soft and hard shell
