First Gen Grille Options

teq is offering one, alibaba, and 4pro auto parts

*teq- starts at $200 with options while they’re taking pre-orders

*Alibaba- starts @ like $89.99 before options but figure in shipping/customs and it’s like $157

*4pro auto parts- $389.99. But the website doesn’t have good reviews

 

From what I understood, we (US consumers) cannot purchase from alibaba, only aliexpress? At least that's what I thought I understood from before with buying connectors. Is it also available on aliexpress? I had my alibaba account canceled but I've had good luck sourcing parts for the biz from aliexpress (mostly the h9 male connectors since they aren't an OEM part).

The one main upside to TEQ is some hope of US based support for problems, that's worth the extra $43 ish to me if it truly is possible to get one for 157 to your door. I'd say 157 is a lot to pay for plastic from china without a US vendor backing it, but everyone has their own idea of what value that last bit provides?

 

Has anyone done business with TEQ customs? They show good product on their website, but I've learned to pass doing business with anyone I haven't been able to effectively communicate with. Currently not able to talk with them on the phone, or have good communication interaction by other methods they say is available. I like their front grill but will pass if anyone here doesn't know about their credibility.

 

How long have you been trying to contact them? It is a holiday weekend…..

 

Government doesn't give long Easter weekend off and those very few in the private sector that do...God bless them if they do it with pay. Like you say though, will give it some time due to Easter.

 

teq was fairly quick to respond when I asking about the pre-orders going live. I used the chat with us thing on the website.

They're still not answering the phone. You guys surly didn't communicate with them verbally by phone. Bad way to run a business when they list a phone # that they don't use or ignore.

 

@gascap ya I didn’t use the phone number. I reached out through Instagram. They have a rep that frequents the 1st gen tundra group and TSOR groups on Facebook. His names Hunter Gill. Might try over there

but I get it, sometimes you just wanna pick the phone up and call.

 

Thanks, but their showing a phone number with no intention to use it for business puts up a big red flag that says to pass. Their policy of no returns at all and charge to cancel order shows poor sales and possible cheap made and looking product.
Because of good build instructions given here for DIY project using Toyota grill and not a China copy, I'll make my own to avoid headache if receive issue from sole proprietor/TEQ.

I was so pumped to add a TEQ customs grille, unfortunately situation arose requiring I sell my truck. TEQ refunded me super fast no questions asked. Great customer service

 

Did anyone do the color match option? I'm tempted to get one if the outside is painted and not the whole thing.

 

Great news, let us know what it looks like. What has to be added to the front grill in order to keep/lock the hood down? Their video had a lever assembly strip taken off the original grill and attached to the new?

 

Spray paint it with matching paint from a can. Just primer it, paint and lightly wet sand smooth a couple or more coats. Then buff it out and finally wax it. Good luck

 

Use some 2k clear as well

 

They communicate well on social media and emails. They refunded me really quick after I had to list my truck for sale unexpectedly

I bought the Alibaba one. (I have a spare one of these for Double Cab if anyone is interested and in So Cal area.) It comes with the 4 amber lights and wiring as well though I decided not to run them on mine.

This grille is actually the Double cab version and I had to trim the bottom to fit my access cab. (I ordered the wrong one!)

Overall quality is good but it's a little lighter in weight than OEM. I'm happy with it!

Also, if you order from Alibaba there is very high chance the TOYOTA emblem will be shipped separately and delayed. It took about 45 days for the grille to arrive and another week or so for the emblem.

 

Yeah, like others I read your statement about it the other day, and again after your reposting about being happy for not eating their said penalty fees. It's good to hear. Nice if he treats everyone the same when grill orders are cancelled or returned w/o incurring said penalty fees.

Might give him a try if hearing it's solid like OEM grills and thereby won't have to buy OEM and make changes to it myself!

I've ordered from Alibaba vendors before and always received ordered product around a month later. So far worth the wait.
With that said, is it possible for you to copy and post the mfgr's website link that you purchased the grill from? You did a good job trimming it to fit cause it looks great.

 

just realized I forgot to post in here.

that empty piece on the bottom bumper is getting wrapped in matte black vinyl. My first order I messed up trying to learn to use the stuff. Turns out my wife’s pretty good with it and will be wrapping that piece for me when this order gets here.

 

Looks good, just like the one that 3.4Tundra ordered from China.

Have you guys that ordered from Hunter Gill at TEQ Customs receive the grills already shipped out to you yet? The bank won't/can't help you with claim for refund (never received order) past 90 days. Looks like about 2/3 of that is gone

 

I got mine, I ordered on April 13th and it shipped May 25th. He was quoting around 45 days to ship when the pre-orders started.
