That's been my experience as well. I know any # of homeschool-educated people. My favorite is when I get to watch people complain about how dumb homeschoolers are...to someone who WAS homeschooled and can tell them all about calculus, trigonometry, classical novels, English, or any of a # of other subjects. :D But there are also those people around whom you expect to hear the 'Deliverance' themesong played as soon as they show up. ;)

Honestly, that's why my son goes to a private school. (That, and the fact that it is comparatively dirt cheap - like $350/month.) We can easily homeschool, and I know my wife and I are up to the task...but my son needs the social interaction and we need the break. LOL!

Yep, for the most part, I've found this to be true.

I work in a job where I need to have an onsite presence. A large part of it though can be done on a computer so work from home is possible with occasional site visits, say on site for 2 or 3 days of a 14 day shift. There was some short-lived talk of that happening and I made it known that if I have to work from home, I quit.

I absolutely hate working from home. Invade my personal life with my work life, need to take up square footage of my home for office space thus rendering it useless, lots of distractions, inability to just walk a few steps to a coworker and quickly solve issues, meetings on Teams...fuck all of that.

It all comes down to getting out of it what you put in. As soneone who was homeschooled for over half of my educational development period, I'm more familiar with the deliverance side of that coin. Can't stand it and roll my eyes every time I hear someone talk about wanting to or actually doing it.

But I'm biased, and I know of good ones. Just didn't see more "goodies than baddies". Bluey reference for those of us with small kids.

Yeah, it definitely depends on the industry, the job (and whether or not it 'supports' WFH), etc.

My job (SCCM/SQL/server admin) can easily be done from home; and while I enjoy working on site (which I do 60% of the time), and while part of my job *requires* an on-site prescence, we're also busy enough *AND* get interrupted enough that I actually value the 40% I do get to work from home. It cuts down on the constant interruptions followed by 'Why isn't this task done?' LOL

I WILL say that my wife has WFH for 8 years now, and I've done it for 2...and we've set very rigid rules. (E.g., we ONLY work out of these two rooms; if the door is shut, you do NOT interrupt unless it's an emergency or a critical need; and so on.) So there's definitely separation of duties going on.

My dad's been WFH as a consultant for about 10 years now and he loves it. He's essentially semi-retired and gets to spend as much time in his garden as he wants if things are slow at work.

My previous company tried to rush everyone back to the office in June 2020 and, aside from wondering if we'd be in the office or back on lockdown in any given week and having to haul stuff back and forth, there's also the fact that any productivity gains they got from being in person were wiped out by having to sanitize your hands 4 times and put on a mask just to go refill your water bottle.

Time decay / todays dollar worth vs the future.

Then, will Carmax still have the same offer?

Interesting to see how this pans out lol

    Well done!
Collecting some divi's on REITs like NYMT, but as far as my O&G stuff, basically looking for $350k in gains--much if it with CDEV (Centennial Development out of the Permian) which I started buying at .29. It hit $9.70 this morning.

Getting very close to my final goal and hope to get the hell out soon. This market is crazy.

While working at home sounds all warm and fuzzy it’s a difficult concept to manage as a whole. As an employer of many, Covid initially sent everyone home. Productivity plummetted and as time went on, mental health became an issue as well. We got everyone back in the office reasonably early and most were glad to do so. Yes, there were a few that whined and complained but those were also the lowest productive individuals as well.

I have 4 holdings in the Alberta Oil Patch. the holdings in my retirement fund will stay and collect dividends.
The other stuff in the cash account I am waiting for the perfect storm to hit.
Real Estate bubble pop and continued oil stock appreciation due to the lack of investment and demand rising.
Toronto and more so the surrounding small towns are at the top of the world real estate bubbles.
The amount properties have appreciated is 50 - 100% during pandemic. Last two years.
The next two Bank of Canada rate hikes will flush out those that speculated during the pandemic.
The Oil Run is a multi year thing I believe, but I need those funds to help "maybe" pick up one of these properties if they drop enough.
    Just my opinion.
