This is the proud owner of the camper!

 

The venerable 22R-E; With less than 61K miles on the clock, this engine has probably 500K more miles left in it, but in terms of performance it performs just like you'd expect a camper with a 116hp 4-banger under the hood to perform...



The owner told me that she avoids highways if she can; She wishes the camper had a manual transmission, but the price was just too good to pass up. Needless to say, acceleration is leisurely to say the least, and at high altitudes the overdrive ceases to operate...

 

The A/C was retrofitted to R134a...

 

The leisurely accelerate is what led to the owner naming her beloved camper "Mosey"; She had the spare tire cover custom made...

 

About the only modern upgrade this camper has is a backup camera, which the owner had installed shortly after buying it...

 

Very cool.

 

There was one around here floating around between different owners. No one seemed to do much with it and the last time I saw it the condition was rough. I did see it for sale once but recall the asking price was about double what I thought it was worth.

This one has a couple of issues related to age, but it has a clear title and is totally safe to drive; The most notable issues are that an electrical issue suddenly manifested itself and is preventing the radio from turning on, the HVAC blower motor gave out, so while the A/C blows cold and the heat works great as well the air coming out of the vents is incredibly weak...

I went to a car show in New Jersey today, not knowing what I might find; Turns out that it was definitely worth driving more than an hour to a place I'd never been to before!

What we have here is a highly accurate 1985 Toyota XtraCab SR5 done up to look exactly like the daily driver of one Martin Seamus McFly! BTTF aside, as any diehard Toyota truck fan knows, 1985 is the cream of the crop for these trucks because it was the very last year for factory solid axles and the first year for fuel injection; So basically, you got a much more durable off-roader right off the showroom floor, with a less-finicky EFI system...



Also, this truck is LOADED; I know for a fact that Marty's on-screen truck had A/C and a cassette player, but I'm pretty sure it did not have power windows. This one not only has A/C, but it has power windows and locks, cruise control, and even intermittent wipers! This is obviously not Marty's on-screen truck, but the title of the thread comes from the fact that this exact truck has just a little over 193K miles on it, which is extremely low for a Toyota truck that is 38 years old as of this post! By comparison, my Tacoma is less than 13 years old and has also 152K miles!

Of course, it wouldn't be Back to the Future without an accurate 1981 Delorean Time Machine, and the white Ford E250 is one of the less-ogled vehicles of the original movie, the official campaign vehicle of Hill Valley mayor Goldie Wilson!

Inside Marty's truck...

 

I knew power windows were an option, but not as early as 1985, and I've never seen a Toyota truck of this era with them in person! I honestly don't think that I've EVER seen a regular cab Toyota (even a Tacoma), with factory power windows, in person!

 

Would love to pop Great White in this tape deck, roll the windows down, and drive around small towns blasting Once Bitten Twice Shy...

 

Doesn't get much more 1980s than this; I love it!
