Is buying a 2011 V8 Tundra with 266,500 miles a good idea?

Local dealership has a sweet 2011 Tundra V8 but with high miles (266,530). They are selling for $11,900. I know they are reliable and it felt great when I test drove it. Had a clean history and maintenance was always up to date. This would be my first truck and I'm new to tundras so I'm not sure if it's a good deal or not. Should I pull the trigger on this one or keep looking for a different tundra?

Pretty sound, except nothing was listed in the past two years. The dealership did minor things like replace air filter and changed the oil when they got it. It never had any accidents

    Interior/exterior well kept?

If so, I'd offer 10k and move on personally lol

Have them put it up on a rack so you can inspect for frame rust, among other things

@14burrito both the interior and exterior are kept wicked well. I was planning on going back in a couple days to check if the price moved down. If not ill throw that 10k offer and walk if they don't want to entertain it. Dealership said they price their cars based on current market prices and "can't" bring them down.

@Retired...finally good idea ill have em do it when I go back. Truck had decent lift so I was able to get a decent look under and the frame didn't look too bad.

    Haven't heard that before.

Few dealerships, boat/trailer/truck, told me the same. Boat/trailer dealerships still have the same stock # in stock 6 to 8 months later less than my offer to them. Few dealerships still sitting on the same truck I made offers on.

Your money though my friend, spend as makes you happy

What are the specs on it? Cab configuration, trim level, 2wd or 4wd, condition of the bed indicating use? Location/rust?

@Half Assed Here's the specs; Mileage is 266,530, it's 4X4, Wheelbase is 145.7, Automatic, and a double cab. Bed seems in great condition, no big dents or notable damage. Not too sure what it was used for bc the last owner had it for 7 years and racked up most of the miles. I also made a mistake, it's a 2010 not an 11.

@5NOW808 I'll run that counter off when I go back and yeah I got nothing to lose. Hoping to have a tundra by the end of the summer but there's no rush. Just such a bad time to be buying a used car I guess

@Half Assed no areas of concern for rust, just the usual frame a 22y/o truck. Seemed well cared for. Its Grade 5.7L V8

If it’s truly in fantastic shape inside and out, above and below, I’m with @14burrito. 10k is a strong offer. Heck I’d offer 9k and settle for 10 OTD.

These trucks go twice that distance and more on routine maintenance. So I wouldn’t be worried about longevity.

22y/o truck? It looks like you're using fuzzy math.

They will come down. They probably paid 6-7k on a trade in. Most buyers wouldn’t look twice at a truck with those miles. Stick to your offer, if they say no, write down your phone number, leave and they will call you

I got my truck at 275k miles.. works great.. Toyo quality is something else.. but make sure u start it in the cold.. and ensure the vvti valves are not sticking where u will get timing chain noise at engine start up...other than that Tundras are solid.

So it's a base model? Is it white with rubber floors? If that's the case the only things it really has going for it is the 5.7, 4x4, and possibly light use during it's life. The double cab may be what you desire, but it's also the most commonly sold cab configuration.

In that case $12k is way high IMO. Even $10k seems high to me also. If you have the cash, shop on the private market and buy a carfax if you want to. I think you're coming into a better position to get a deal. The economy is on the brink of crashing and gas is $5/gallon. You should be low balling every tundra for sale on offerup and fb marketplace right now.

I sold my 2012 tundra with 275k miles to a friend back in november and it was still in really good shape - ran smooth as ever with no issues. I actually just checked with him the other week and he's super happy with it. Also, my dad's 2011 has 250k and is running great, as well. These beasts will live very long lives if cared for properly.
