The Z bracket on my 1/8” steel plate. There isn’t enough clearance between the bracket and the plate/bracket bolt to use the dome there. I was able to use the domes on the bracket/frame bolt. These domes have a dual role for these plates in that they offer protection for the bolt heads from road hazards (be that on-road or off-road) and also a deterrent for thieves in that they hinder a thieves access to the bolt head to circumvent its effectiveness. The domes used on the bracket bolts would be purely for the deterrence aspect. Without cutting the bolts or bolt heads, the time necessary to remove the bolts would be a big deterrent to thieves. (You’ll see when you install them).

So while the domes are an extra bit of deterrence and a measure of “skid” protection for 4 of the bolt heads, they are not necessary for the shields to be effective. Having said that, I am glad that I ordered mine and have them on my truck. They satisfy my expectations.

Is that a Barns4WD washer with no paint? The Barnes washers have smaller outside diameter. Been wanting to order, but have been out of stock for months...

Those are the Barnes washers, they are not stainless and no paint. Looked nice and shiny when I put mine on, haven't checked to see what they look like now...

Yea, that’s the smaller one. Probably should’ve painted them but didn’t bother.

I don't know about his bolts, but these are the bolt protector he used.
They have been out of stock for several months on the small and medium...

There is info on the bolts somewhere in 148 pages of this thread..:eek2::thumbsup:

I installed my plates on Friday and used 8 medium rock domes from Rock Hard 4x4 and was able to use them in all the locations.

I used the Large domes from RockHard, and I was only able to use 6 of them. I should have purchased Medium domes since those work in all 8 bolt locations.

yeah, I almost ordered large until I noticed the only difference was the outside diameter, the large are 1/2" bigger.

I also ordered some small ones that I used on the front of the RCI skid to match the rest of the bolts.

I am trying new hours out, trying to wake up at 5am and work until about noon when the AC in my garage can’t keep up with the Houston heat. And then a few more hours in the evening. I have shipped replacement bolts and nut plates this morning and I will be shipping out more plates today. I am shipping as fast as I can

Take it easy bro, Houston heat ain't something you mess with, especially during summer time. Maybe time to tear that garage down and re-build into something a little more, ahem, grand?

Totally understood, and with what constrain we talked about before, this will have to get worse before it gets better.
Hang in there brother, you will get through this and emerge victorious.

Just to be clear, are the dome washers for adding additional protection from theft access? I see they are marketed for skid protection. Saw the links for them on Rock Hard 4x4, are there any other sources?

My shipping says they will be here Friday!! Ordered March 25 / bare aluminum front and back. Will be glad to not have my sphincter wound tighter than a wet knot when I go into a store!

Yes, the rock domes are used with the cat plates for additional protection from the thieves from just using a die grinder and grinding off the bolt heads, dropping the cat plate, and still getting away with your cats. The primary purpose of these same domes is for skid protection for off-roading. There was someone else that posted up a picture of another brand of domes that was rusting because they were bare metal.

I know what you mean by tight-assed when parking when out and about. You couldn't drive a toothpick in my sphincter with a sledgehammer. I'm better now though.

Got any of the 1/4 aluminum front and back cat covers available? Any problem mating to a TRD Skidplate. Don't care what color.

Just ordered 8 of the medium dome washers from Rockford 4x4. 113 and change shipped, seems exorbitant but if they add additional deterrence it'll be worth it. Don't want to go broke saving money. The lengths we go through for scumbaggery protection.

Almost canceled as the cat thefts around the Philadelphia area are just out of control and was getting impatient. Thought better of it as I can appreciate the massive undertaking and really been impressed with both Tyler and the final product I've seen in the pictures posted here.
So glad I waited as I really like the way the Valhalla plates look and fit. I just like the way they look better than the RCI plates I installed on my father's Tacoma Screenshot_20220607-172348_Signal.jpg
