I'm going to want the best at some point, so we should collaborate. I can't say much about this, i don't have tracks on board or real tests. Maybe a new Gen1 thread. I honestly don't need the opinions of the masses. :)

It’s not tile adjust, just align them. These are 4 med res tiles that cover where we went. 10 to salton sea. No tracks because I just did this on the couch. But, if I download these maps to my phone, it’s one big map.

Since you screwed me over by requiring shock relocation and 12" for the Tundra, I had a spare set of rears just sitting.
While mulling over throwing them on the '05 I pestered the snot out of Colton and he sent me some 2.0 coilovers which were in stock. They shipped super fast.
Jason happened to knock it out today, truck hasn't even been there 24h.

I wasn't super annoyed with the suspension on the '05 before but it has nearly 130k and 17 years plus I saw some visible cracks in the shocks. PO had mentioned that was on the list but he hadn't done it.

It's so light and short wheelbase that I figure even for street use having a really spiffy suspension will be nice. So I'm curious to drive it and find out now. I wouldn't say it was bad before but I think it was a bit less nice than the 2016 after having that suspension redone.

The '02 Tundra is super clunky still but it's on stock rear shocks at 160k and the squat problem with the leafs so it rubs on bumps up front. To fix that we gotta go up and I think I also need to lube the boot on the shell a bunch. Right now she's a bit of a rattler.

I'm the worst. But I love you and I would only recommend a shock relocation for bad ass mothers. Well, no, it's F-ing awesome for anyone willing to do it. I need it because I have to make up for my other shortcomings. Speed is not one - at least speed on easy trails...I can't get technical. Not in this truck.

Well. If you start a new thread looking for ‘the masses’… in the Gen 1 sub-forum… um… you may not get the responses you’re wanting….

The opposite - not the masses, the best gens who know what they are talking about or say otherwise.

Yeah, Dave and I are buddies so no fights pending. We can can take play shots and know the deal. That wasn't even a shot really, just an inside or camouflaged jab.

I guess it depends on the definition of technical. I can't pull from the front. So whatever a light 34 can be pushed over.

Did I really get this far and not realize your truck isn’t 4x4? My man! I’m kinda giddy with possibilities right now….

I have a place in my heart for Sublime. I used to see them in college at backyard parties and the tavern. They spilled their beers on me more than once.

I've been driving beaches in LA county for 30 years in work trucks. Zuma to San Pedro. It's amazing what tires and right pressure can do with an open diff. But, there are some spots even 4WD will eat shit with the wrong line. Before or after I retire, I'll probably go rogue and run my truck on some of those beaches.

This sub-forum requires a bit of consistent show-up to get full value. Clearly, when I dip in and out, I miss important stuff.

I never realized that one could be staked down. That's huge. I often thought rather than super heavy and expensive sea style anchor, I would carry a picket fence. But that is more versatile. :)

This is what I mean - it's 1" stakes in three rows each supporting each other. The anchor point is at the ground of the 1st stake.

Technically, I have 4wd w rear locker, 4wd LSD / open and 2wd no locker.

I could maybe see tossing a front locker in the 2016 Tacoma down the line. That seems like the best pick for “need locker” but I want to first learn how to drive. And I figure I winch my way out of trouble if I have to.

But the irony is I have a winch slimline front bumper on the Taco and nothing for the Tundra yet. I need to get on top of that. Winch is waiting for me up north and I just got my winch power shutoff switch this week.

Meanwhile, the I4 prerunner does everything I need to do, namely drive to Costco once a week for milk and eggs.

I doubt most people could set that up in the field from memory… while the tide is coming in… and what if the internet was spotty and the how-to video for step-by-step instructions won’t play-?

Back before internet and specialty tools for 4x4 extractions, my grandfather could rig a come-along in all sorts of situations, using items at hand.

Now we need deadman or winches. Or is it, dead men and wenches?
