Anybody do a head unit replacement with this model? If not, any recommendations for Kenwood or Pioneer? This OEM unit has to go…

I use Kenwood. Way too much lag moving through menus on Pioneer.

I loved my Pioneer NEX units years ago (7000-7800) I think BUT they get dust behind the clear screen, in front of the display & Pioneer's response was you live in Az, it's dusty. No Kenwood going back to 2006 had that issue.

Thanks @7.62X51 and @e30cabrio . What comparable Kenwood units would you recommend? Wifey likes built in NAV, but neither of us are audiophiles.

DNX997XR with the Maestro add-on package. I’d built up some courage having made it 1/2 way through a Quadruppel. The reference was a lot more sound quality than I really needed, but I found a factory refurb for $500 off retail on Crutchfield, bringing it down into my budget range. I asked about doing the amp and speaker replacements, but not being an audiophile, the CSR said I’d be very happy with the difference in sound quality and recommended trying it with the factory amp and speakers for now and if I got dissatisfied, to start replacing more stuff. Really like those guys over there.
