Is it my imagination or are dealers simply not being allocated the 1794 model. Does anyone have a actual reason why this is happening. I know there is a chip shortage but is there any more documented reason why this model does not seem to be allocated?

watched an engineer talking about Toyota’s allocation/production system. They’re building based on past sales by dealer. If your area had limited 1794 sales in the past they’ll see less in allocation. With 1794 sales being less than SR5 and limited I’d guess they’re a much longer wait.

I just put a deposit down on a 1794 three days ago. The dealer said delivery would take 6-8 months. So it will probably be a 2023.

They exist.. but like every other model, demand exceeds production.

I was just curious about it so I looked at how many Crewmax Tundras were in a 3,000 mile radius...these numbers include allocations, freight status ones and ground status ones. They are also only the 4x4 version non-hybrid (except PRO).

    SR5 - 2,441
    Limited - 1,218
    Platinum - 667
    1794 - 608
    PRO - 512

In short, yes they are building far less Platinum/1794 models.

Depends on your area I suppose. The 3 dealerships in my area have been getting mostly platinums and 1794's for a few months. The occasional limited will pop up and it's honestly rare to see an sr5

Very interesting. Are they having issues after build with the 1794’ that you know of? When I received word that my dealer had received an allocation for a 1794 (the one I’m waiting for) they also offered me a Capstone. The Capstone had a build date a couple days later than mine, but switched to G status this morning….and my 1794 built earlier in May is apparently still in processing. Just doesn’t add up…is there any rhyme or reason?

I have only seen Sr5 and platinums at my local dealer. That's what I'll end up with anyway. Platinums are marked up a bit. SR5 were marked up a bit but the last few have not. They are msrp.

I got on the dealers list in early December for a 1794 CM, short bed, Off road package in mag gray, mesquite or wind chill. Still waiting 6 months later with no news as to when they might get one.

I just had to keep calling different dealers and gave up on the one where I have my (refundable) deposit placed in December. Tons of groundwork to have the privilege of spending $70k honestly, but that seems to be life now.

It’s absolutely ridiculous. I’ve been waiting since November for the ‘privilege’ on a hybrid. I’m honestly hoping it’s worth the wait.

Are you able to see what areas/dealers get the most allocation of 1794s? Been trying to get a White or Blue 1794.. prob called like 100 dealers within 300 miles of chicago!

No, I wouldn't be able to see that kind of stuff. You're either going to find one sitting on a lot but it will be marked up 10k (hence why it's available) or you will get on a list at a reasonable dealer for MSRP and just have to wait. Sure, there's one in a million that happened to stumble upon one where the guy just backed out but that is extremely rare and I wouldn't count on it.

I've found that to be the case too. Had a refundable deposit for a 1794/TRD/Hybrid since the spring, and no build date in sight. I placed another $500 deposit at a second dealership. They told me they haven't seen a 3rd gen 1794 since the new model year rolled out. They offered me a Capstone with an 8/30 build date, so I switched my deposit over to that. IF a 1794/Hybrid/TRD comes in then I'll switch back.

I ordered a 1794 in December 2021. Since the 1794 with 6.5' bed, rear air, and towing mirrors is impossible to get I am waiting on a platinum that had the 6.5' bed and rear air, although no tow mirrors. It was supposedly build last week.

I've seen similar challenges with tow mirrors on Platinum and 1794s in Maryland.

I ordered or should say I left a deposit for a 1794 model on June 24th. The only this I can get from the dealer is they will let me know ehn they hear back from Toyota in about 6 to 8 months. Very frustrating.

9 months and counting! I am at the top of their list finally, if they ever get one allotted! I was told they have only sold 6 of them (1794 with off road package) since the new model came out.
