If you're talking about driving it without the entire grille assembly including the grille shutters then I don't believe the truck will drive. I think it throws itself into a limp mode without the shutters working, or at the very least you are going to have a dash lit up like a Christmas tree.

If you're just having the mustache pieces painted/wrapped, then you can remove those from the grill and drop off just those pieces at your local shop. Then you can put the rest of the grill assembly back on (minus the mustache, of course) that will allow you to plug the TSS sensor & grill shutters back in.

You're truck will look funky driving around with no mustache assembly, but no more funky than driving around with no grill at all. It should throw any codes this way since you can separate the mustache pieces from the rest of the grill.

Yep this is what I did while I was painting my pieces. And honestly it looks better with no grille surround pieces on there than it did with the silver or in some people's cases, chrome.

lol. I get it, but (now I'm venting) I'm so over the anti-chrome/anti-mustache thing. Nowadays, I usually just pass by threads on the subject but I thought I could offer an alternative for the OP.

I still have the chrome on mine. Am I in love with it? Nope. Will I eventually get around to doing something about it? Meh. Maybe. Right now, I'm focused on spending money on things that add capability to my truck. I don't hate the chrome enough to spend $500 (or more) changing it.

To each their own on this subject.

Honestly on my Limited TRD it was the silver and I though that would be the immediate first thing I modified but it's honestly not bad looking at all in person. The actual chrome on the other hand, I wouldn't be able to stand that lol
