OMFG I am so pissed at myself. Irate. I knew one of the 4 Morimoto Mini Pods I bought was a manufacturer defect/poor wiring. Instead of shutting that down, I ordered a replacement and some of the bigger ones. (Mod Pods). The Mods seem to have a touch more robust wiring, a touch. I replaced the bad mini pod with a new one, treated them all like newborns, did solders instead of crimps. The wires are like baby hair. Tested them at every step, and after I had a robust harness to protect the fragile wiring of these little bitches - 1 of 3 fails. It doesn't fail at my solders or anywhere I did anything. Fucking thing fails at its own base, like the last one. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

So, Morimoto can't wire small pods. I'm at 40% failure. Probably on my way to 60%. Good thing I wired 3 together. When the first two fail I will have a 3rd failsafe. Not - Ill put a Baja up there. F-U Morimoto. And F-me.

Lame, get down on some diode dynamics, nice options for lenses on the mid sized lights.

    Well that certainly sucks!
Have you contacted Morimoto about these 2 defective pods....
I would hope there is some sort of warranty for a new out of the box light!
I was considering some of these mini pods for my truck, but BIG second thoughts now, kinda depends on how Morimoto responds to you!

I did email them about what they need to improve. I did not contact them about a replacement, because frankly, they are not that much money, and one of these little things is not worth the hassle. My cost was time lost. I'm pissed because I knew they had a problem, but I liked them and tried again. And had another failure. I'm saying the QC is bad. The architecture is bad. I'm not saying they aren't great at customer support. I have no idea.

Fun designs and poor execution. Even worse they like to deflect blame to “MESO’s factory” as if it’s totally ok for their stuff to fail when you press it a little too hard.

Read the TW sae fog thread for kicks. I have exactly one morimoto product and that’s one too many, good reminder to drop the price.

Like these? DD are awesome and I started with these for what I wanted to accomplish but the fit was bad. But yes, DD all day long.

So in the ongoing saga of getting my shop upgraded to metal and wood, I'm packing a lot of stuff in a single car garage... but it's working out. Today's space utilization exercise, what to to do with those damn welding gas tank tops! I had a dream a month ago, actually a good one, and dreamed this up....

I found a couple of small gas tanks, with the correct thread pitch on Craig's List LA, $5 each! Friggin PERFECT!!
They were empty, so I chucked 'em up on the saw, and cut the tops off..... welded in a couple of small flats, drilled,
and mounted them next to the tanks at the weld area of the bench!

It's not how big the shop is, well it is but, it's how much you can pack in per SQ FT!

@alb1k im sorry about those crappy lights. :(

But I read you say you’ll just go with BD so I’m here with a PSA: PLEASE DON’T!

BD is great forward facing or diffused, bright scene lighting for when you’re at camp, but their ambers SUCK as chase lights: the colour is too yellow and disappears in dust (so what’s the point?!), and they’re super bright, so they’re horrible to follow at night (so… what’s the point?!!). So I’ll give the same unsolicited advice I always give regarding chase/follow lights: get Caliraised.

Caliraised ditch lights (aren’t bright enough to be ditch lights , but they) are the perfect color and brightness to be rear-facing truck chase lights when you need them, on a dusty trail and/or at night. And they cost a lot less than BD.

Thanks Sunny! I threw BD out there as reliable, but I haven't really gave it much thought. I'm partially relying on Switchpros 100/50/10 illumination for whatever I put there. But - if you like the Cali Day or night, that's good for me. Everything is wired at this point - so a light is really easy. :)

    Hey Sunny -
Are you referring to the side projectors
    https://caliraisedled.com/products/side-projecting-led-pods-sold-as-pair
    or the 3X2 pods?
    https://caliraisedled.com/products/3x2-18w-pod

And what color do you recommend?

Nope. I bought the GAIA 5 year plan. You should definitely throw some money at onX, then teach us if it’s worthwhile.

It sounds like Gaia is more robust and has better Maps. I don't know if it works with Apple car play like onX. onX is easy to use and good for finding public roads quickly. Also has great trail info built in. Something about not so awesome with offline maps. I'll have to spend more time.

We have a “Amy’s doughnut” here which is a franchise but it’s basically “voodoo doughnut” from the northwest or whatever. But I actually prefer some of the local mom and pop spots, one is run by Hispanics; La Caves. And the other is run by a Asian family.
