Red Line 75W85 Differential Gear Oil...Who's using it?

i did mine last week-ish.

1st change i was at 43k miles.

it was dark, but not dirty or chunky

no specs...a tad of muck on the magnet drain plug

used M1

Using dino 'cause you have a locker?

 

Mainly because they know gears, and that’s what the recommend.
I had recently used valvoline synthetic and my LSD was chattering like a chipmunk, it’s been quiet as a church mouse since I put Dino with a slip additive

Changed my rear diff with Valvoline 75-90 at 30,000 miles. The factory lube was cloudy and there was metal goop on the magnet. I wish I would have changed it at 15,000 miles and would if I could do it over.

Two weeks ago I replaced the front diff with the same Valvoline 75-90. Also replaced the transfer case with 75-90. Here is what I’ve experienced, 4 wheel drive performs exactly the same as the factory fill and my fuel economy hasn't changed.

I did experience 1 change, before I serviced the front diff and transfer case oils, when I was on a steep hill wheeling or a steep drive way, I would get a thud/stutter from my front end when I was driving at a slow speed. It drove me nuts for the first few years and I thought it was the tranny. I was wrong, it was either the front diff or transfer case, with the new lube when climbing hills, my truck is smooth and happy. I’m pleased with Valvoline 75-90 in all 3 locations.

 

Hell yeah!!! I ordered some 20w50 today for my new mower since I gotta change the break in oil after I mow again.

I'm gonna try to make it their open house event in August.

 

Toyota dealer told me few years ago that they just had a barrel of normal valvoline

I change some factory fluids the other week with all Red Line at about 42k miles. 75w-85 for the transfer case,

75w-90 for the rear diff, D6 ATF 1 gal. drain and fill plus the two quarts of ws that come with the transmission cooler kit which also went on the same weekend. So far I haven't noticed any difference in fuel mileage or shifting quality. Every other week or so I drive around the one gravel parking lot at work and exercise the 4x4, I have noticed that it goes in and out of 4x4 noticeably faster than with the stock fluid.
