Alright guys, rear brakes are toast and I am getting the braking wobble when stopping.

Dealer wants $500+ to do rear (pads/rotors). I’m thinking NO WAY (unless someone here knows a VERY persuasive reason why I should go this route.)

Searched around, found a good deal on the Centric Premium rotors and posi-quiet ceramic pads. (350 shipped front/rear). It’s simply a daily driver, so no real reason to get carried away with aftermarket parts.

Now, there is plenty of “DIY How-To” videos on YT for fronts and rears, but I figured why not post something and see what DIY’ers have ran into on the 2.5 gen.

So, use this thread to post your “Look out for this.” “Make sure of that.” Helpful tips while I either attempt my 1st brake job, or get convinced to have a shop put on my parts. Videos always make it seem easier than it is…

I do have two unanswered questions though, torque specs on any bolts removed, and jacking points (front and rear please)

    Thanks team

I jack up the rear axel at or near the shock mount. The only real issue is getting the parking brake pads to release the rotor, other than that its a breeze.

Bought all new Toyota brakes and rotors for less than $500. Changing was very easy, the only hard part was removing and reinstalling my heavy 35s.

Was that for all four ?

Interested in prices for all 4 including parking brake and 1 backing plate.

Indeed, shop hourly fees won't be cheap.

All four. I got most of everything on Ebay, they sell Toyota brakes sets on there from Dealerships.

That says front, so it does not seem to be all 4, unless I am missing something.

Rear caliper mounting bolts 123 ftlb torque, rear caliper slide pin bolts 65 ftlbs. use plenty of slider lube of your choice on the pins. Fronts, I'd get caliper pin kit. replace them use plenty of anti seize on the pins for removal next time. Be sure the wheel hubs are free of rust before installing rotors..

In the event there is rust on surfaces on the hubs, are we talking clean or replace?
