Slow morning?

 

Between these guys geeking out on red baloons and my wife cranking Devo 'Crack That Whip', I think I'm growing zits and a mullet.

Meanwhile in the Approaching 50 Club, I’ve been rocking DM this weekend in honor of the departed member. Pretty sure that’s going to lead to a Cure marathon next week.
My kids and I love modern tech/electronic music, but they cannot make a link to these classics until it’s been used in a Marvel movie.

I love that version.

 

About the only electronic music I like is Perturbator and a few songs off the Dive soundtrack.

 

Meanwhile, over here I'm getting ready to crank up the weekly bluegrass hour soon.

 

It’s actually really good! The local non profit granola station plays all kinds of weird stuff. They just played a Beth Hart song; she recently covered a bunch of zeppelin songs it’s kinda cool to hear a different version of some classic songs

How about a Sharing Sunday...

Was just digging thru my pile of random bolts, screws and nuts trying to find the "one more" item I needed to finish a project and found a couple of things I've kept from over the years. I'm not a big fan of keeping things from the past, but there are a few items I'm keeping with me.

Like this...this is what happens to a 40S&W barrel when you use the stupid-cheap range ammo. It was either a half-charge or a double charge, but either way my barrel went boom. Crap flew everywhere, but luckily I just had a few mild powder burns. The range did replace my pistol and ironically I ended up working there about 6 months later as a side job to help pay for the expensive hobby.

 

This is the largest rivet used to build the 747 wing. I did an internship at Boeing decades ago and worked on some of the riveting equipment. On an excursion up to the main factory I saw the rack where they keep all the rivets. The riveting machines for the wings run on tracks (similar to train tracks) and are two stories tall. Amazing equipment. I dug around until I found the largest one on the shelf.

I have a far less interesting story to share. I've been trying to get eavestrough installed on my shed for a year. I went to Home Hardware and Home Depot last spring and got everything that I needed. When winter set in and I still hadn't finished, I apparently (as I realized later) took everything out of the plastic shopping bags and threw it in an old Walmart box that I put next to the box I throw scrap metal in until it's time to make a run to the eco station. So when I went to restart the project yesterday, I glanced in that box, decided it must be scrap metal and ran to Home Depot to get the pieces I was still missing. Naturally, as soon as I got home, I remembered about the stuff I'd bought last year. It's a good thing Home Depot is cool about returning stuff you don't need.

For the barrel, it was over before I knew it. But I had a major “flashback” the next time I was on the range. Took a few months with a lot of dry firing to erase the flinch.

Think it is an anodizing finish, but might also be to signify the diameter. Cannot remember
