I've got 155,000 miles on my truck. I bought it with about 145,000 miles for a good price about a year ago. Should I have them do the transmission fluid change now or is it too late? I don't see a record of it in the service history. They did throw in a drivetrain warranty when I bought it.

After it going 150,000 mikes without being touched, I've been told that it should just be left alone otherwise I'd have to rebuild it due to whatever inside being worn out?

I would get that contaminated fluid out and put fresh fluid in.

Since it hasn't been done probably a flush. But your choice. Dropping the pan and cleaning the magnets wouldnt hurt either. Next time don't buy a truck that hasn't been regularly services;)

I just pulled a *HEAVY* 22' enclosed car hauler from Seattle to Boston to move my family for a new job. I made several upgrades so I wouldn't destroy my 2008 Crewmax 4x4 (with the towing package). One of the best upgrades for crossing the Cascades and Rockies was to front and rear Stop Tech drilled and slotted rotors. The kit came with ceramic pads also which was nice.

I played it safe on my downhill speeds, but still had to slow down quickly near the bottom of a few long steep grades when I rounded the curve and found 2 semi's practicing their rolling roadblock manuver. The Stop Tech's gave me lots of braking with no fade in a scenario that I'm sure the stock brakes would have been too hot for.

In the last month my Passenger side airbag light ALWAYS shows OFF. I know on the Gen1 there is a switch in the glove box that allowed you to turn on/off. There isn't any switch on my Gen2. I don't know why, even with an adult passenger in the seat, the air bag doesn't work. Any ideas?

    TIA

Dan ya you are right with everything you said. You have sensors under the seat that detects a passenger's weight. If the passenger weighs more then 60? Pds it's turns on the airbag. If less it leaves it off (children). If this is not working correctly, it will need to be looked at by a dealer with our scan tool to see what the sensors are reading for weights.

I can't help u there man, no idea how to do that

The fan motor in my '12 DC as started to make a rumbling/humming sound yesterday. it stops when I turn off the fan, but not when I turn off the compressor. It also varies with the fan speed. I changed the filter, but that didn't help. It did get quieter later that day, but it's still making the sound. It's barely noticeable on the lower speeds, but quite pronounced on the higher speeds. Am I looking at a trip to the dealer?

I bet there is a leaf in your blower motor. Take your filter back and reach down in there (fan off;)) and see if u feel anthing. Remove anything if needed

    Many Thanks!

One leaf, and a whole bunch of leaf bits later, and it's back to normal. I expected the fan to be on the clean side of the filter, but it doesn't appear that's the case.

In case anyone else has this problem, the fan is just below the filter and lays flat. You can reach in and rotate it to get to all of the blades. All I could get in was my fingers, but my fingertips were enough to dig out the leaf shreds. Those of you with cooperative small children, or a cooperative wife with small hands, should have an easy time. :)

I think that it's just three easily accessible screws and one electrical connector to remove the blower motor, then you can just shake it out over the rubbish bin, or on the floor.

It would have to be a small hose, the opening's only a little over an inch tall.

Question for the Guys way smarter than I am!!! I have a 2010 Tundra SR5 5.7L 4X4 with 65,000. I've had it about 7 months now with no issues. All the sudden last week I go to leave work and when I turn the key it acts like the battery is completely dead, no lights on nothing. On the 3rd turn of the key she started up with no problem but the aftermarket radio was reset to factory just like having a dead battery. I had the battery checked it is good. Drove the truck for 3 days with no issues, it started fine every time. Then I went to get gas turned the truck off when I went to start it, dead. I popped the hood and pushed on the positive cables coming from the positive terminal and could here things start to click on and saw the interior lights turn on, it started right up. Had the issue happen 2 times this weekend and each time either after the 2nd crank it starts or pushing on mainly the wire that goes from the positive terminal to the fuse box it starts. I did notice a puff of smoke from that wire when it was started today. Does that wire need to be replaced or is there something in the fuse box? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Happy 4th weekend everyone!!!

Is the puff of smoke from the wire at the battery end, or at the fuse box end? You might just need to clean and tighten the connection. Corrosion can cause a bad contact between the metal pieces. Disconnect it, clean it carefully, and reconnect and re-tighten it. Be sure to disconnect the negative cable first, you don't want any nasty surprises.

The smoke was from the cable end by the battery it was covered in electrical tape... I took everything off cleaned the little bit of corrosion that was on there took the tape off made sure everything looked good and put new tape around it. It started the first time but it acts like it's not getting all the power it needs... it just seemed to be running not as powerful as usual if that makes any sense

Are you able to tell how old the battery is? Sometimes there's a sticker, sometimes someone will carve or engrave the date into the plastic of the case. There may even be some "date dots" in the label where the month and last two numbers of the year are removed. Five years is a reasonable life span to expect from a battery. If the battery voltage checks okay, that does not necessarily mean that it can perform under the load of starting the engine and may be at the end of it's useful life. A new battery could be the hot tip.

Sure seems like cable ends and a battery would be a good start.

Aren't you getting close to 1 year anniversary? Wait ..your H moon was during winter? Time to reprise your AK trip. Perfect time of year. Why not arrange going up to train Toyota techs how to properly install/align lifts at the Anchorage or Fairbanks dealer. Freebie vaycay. Just sayin

On Sunday(?) I was in really soft sand and heard the vsc kick in a couple of times. The vsc light stayed on. I found code c1234, yaw sensor with techstream and cleared it. No more problems until today. Getting on the beach this morning, when I parked I noticed the light on again. No other symptoms. When I started the truck to come back, the light was still on. By the time I got about two miles, off again. WTF? I guess is my question. Bad yaw rate sensor, or something else?

Yeah, I hate intermittent. Truck is leveled, I never did the calibration, it's on my list now for when I get home. Seems weird that it would throw a code though, I would think it would just be more nuisance vsc activation. Too windy for the beach right now, if it drops off I'll go out later this afternoon and see what happens.

Wind got worse, didn't go back off road, but did get this. Any ideas?
