Long day of shopping. I think whoever coined the phrase "Happy Wife, Happy Life" was either full of shit or the actual wife or both.

The 45th time she asked me if something was "white" (which it clearly was) almost sent me marching out of Target and into incoming traffic. On my way out the door, I passed a candy display and got distracted. There was a line to try shit on. It took 30 minutes for her to get in the room and try shit on. She comes out and says, "I need a size small." I look at the line to get back into the dressing rooms and asked "Do you need to try it on again?" She says "Yes." I just about lost my shit. I said "Why didn't you bring in multiple sizes?" I ended up telling her to get the small and I'll mail the fucker back if it doesn't fit.

So she goes to the rack and starts comparing all of the small shirts. 15 more minutes of her comparing them. These are mass produced, they are all the damn same.

We make it to the checkout. It's self-check and another hell of a line. She goes to scan the tag on the shirt and she picked the one shirt out of 500 identical shirts that didn't have a tag. So I speed walk back to the other side of the friggin' store and get another shirt so she can scan it and I can go home. I bring the shirt to her, she scans it and the checkout helper dude is ready to take it back. She starts comparing it to the one she already picked. I think I started spasming.



I did come home to this though so the day is ending well.

Busy day taking the oldest to her all star practice while the 2nd one wanted to come too. We watched and i got some stuff to work with her on, but still doing well at catcher.
We had some really good friends come over and catch up a bit while drinking, bbqing, swimming, and chatting. Stayed by the pool and got burnt.

I think it was a few years ago, but we were up at the Commissary at Fort Hood. This lady named "Amber" was the checkout lady. Mrs. Bandito and my daughter went to use the bathroom while I was paying for our groceries. Amber just starts ranting about her husband and how she's going to leave him and something about his Commander was going to make it so she couldn't get anything. On and on and on. I just listened and told her that I hoped everything worked out.

Today, our checkout lady was Amber. She looked kind of worn out. Still had a ring on but had a couple of broken teeth. At first I thought they were rotten, but they were busted. I hate that shit.

 

Yeah! I can't stand that shit either! Poor girl!

 

She was at one time. Fort Hood was a hard base to be at back when I was there, probably even worse now with all of the deployments. Can't imagine what this poor woman has gone through.

 

ummm. That's a normal shopping day??? At least for me it is. That's why for a normal shopping day I always have something urgent come up at work.

 

@TaquitoBandito - Ha. I was an Army brat and grew up in Copperas Cove until we moved when I wad 12 or so. That was a different era back then. That was late 60s & early 70s. My sisters and I have some very fond memories from those times.
Back then we only had rotary phones and only had to dial the last for digits of the phone number. In fact, we had a party line until about a year before we moved.
My father passed away in Harker Heights about six years ago so we went back for the services and funeral. That whole area is different now.

Seriously though, my neighbors across the street, two trust fund Jewish brothers in their mid-50’s, asked me to hook up a component to their stereo a few years back. They are really great guys but don’t know how to do anything because they never had to. I even gave them cooking lessons at one point and showed them how to hang pictures.

Anyways, I get it hooked up for them and they put in Lady Gaga to test it. Born this Way comes on and those bastards were dancing around like they were in a club. It was pretty hilarious.

 

Thank you - I was there in 99-2000. I was lucky because I was attached to the III Corps headquarters but it just sucked because the living conditions were horrendous, and people with my job would basically get stuck being the announcer for change of command ceremonies. I had a weekly update that I would record for the area radio stations and I did little news update for the local tv channel.
It probably didn’t help that I came directly from Germany. It’s changed a lot since the shootings and the town has just exploded around it.
