Hey guys/gals, need some assistance here. I’m trying to install my transfer case skid and am running into an issue where the notch on the forward side of the transfer case skid does not fit around the bolt/spacer on the rear of the TRD engine skid.

This is where the notch is getting hung up.

Anyone here install an RCI transfer case with the TRD skid? What am I missing here? The instructions say to loosen the rear bolts to expose the thread, but it seems I may need to remove the spacer. Help?

Are we talking about the area where the engine skid sits below the transfer skid?

Yep, when I move the transfer case skid into place, the notches aren’t wide enough to move it all the way in because it gets stuck on the bolts/spacers on the engine skid.

Is it aligning at least with the TRD engine skid? Or does it look way off? If it's off, then you might have to cut out new notches in order to slide the transfer skid over the engine skid to bolt it on.

I have RCI's engine and transfer skid so didn't have an issue with the notches being off.

It aligns. I’m hoping I am missing something so I could avoid grinding the notches to widen them out.

Wait, between the 2 rear mounting bolts of the TRD engine skid, there are spacers?

The RCI skids sit flush up against the lower control arm cross members (I think that is the name for it?). But if you have spacers, that may be the issue. Maybe you can get different mounting hardware?

I’m calling them spacers, but there is a barrel that surrounds the bolt on the two rear bolts. The photo in the initial post shows these.

Worst case, I’ll just grind the notches a bit to get them to slide in. I didn’t add any hardware, the “spacers” I’m talking about are on the skid in the initial post above.

Will it be fully secured if you were to widen the notch?

Yeah, it should slide right into place at that point. Looks like this is the only option I have.

How did this work out? Have my RCI trans skid in my garage waiting to install on my PRO. Am I better off selling the PRO skid and picking up an RCI engine skid, or did this workout fine?

Grinding out notches worked perfectly. Took 5 mins and the install was smooth as butter after that.

Do the notches just need to be cut to the width of the spacers, or does it slide between the frame and the top of the spacer (like around the bolt threads, but are they just wider). If that makes sense

It was just the width. I believe I widened it about 1/4” or so.
