Power seat nylon gear

My gear that allows the seat to go forward and backwards stripped and I’m wondering where I can find another. I’m attaching pics.

seems to be a common issue with other models but I can’t find one that matches

I know the dimensions aren’t the same but I’m hoping the gear threads are. Likely will need to make a bushing for the ends if the gears match.

 

I had good luck finding random bushings on Amazon, if you have a set of calipers get some measurements on what you need. If you can't find them, I'm sure a machine shop can make the bushings for you.

 

Thanks. I did find a bushing on Amazon that may work with some trimming. Hope it works. I’m surprised Toyota is using different gears for different models and somehow the nylon gears in tundras aren’t failing enough to have replacement parts.

 

I believe land crusiers are built to last 25yrs (read it somewhere, could be false) and they probably tested the nylon gears and they held up well enough to put into production on the tundra. Just a money saving thing I guess. Land Cruisers are really expensive and over built, and I guess the quality really shows, even in such a small part such as a gear for the power seat that no one would never even think of.

Your nylon gear did last many years without failure, and as you said, the tundras aren't really prone to failure with this particular part. This is the first I've ever read about it.

Be sure to clean the worm gear and gear case really good, and re lube it (looks like white lithium grease). Inspect the worm gear as well, it could also have some wear that may contribute to an early failure on the new gear.

 

can the worm gear be taken out easily? I noticed the plastic covering came off a little when I was removing the nylon gear but I pushed it back in because I was afraid of damaging it.

 

I honestly don't know, I've never taken one apart before
