It should theoretically be easier than ever with the shared platform. I'd expect once the sequoia is out and parts are available we'll find out quick

 

Is it just me or does the Sequoia's hood and fenders look identical to the ones on the Tundra? It might just be a matter of buying the front bumper assembly and swapping it on.

 

Are you trying to be cute, or do you think it's a real issue?

 

Both. I think it's a real mistake on Toyota's part. However, it's not a deal breaker for me and the arguments and epic tow hook conspiracy thread we had here a few months ago were great entertainment.

 

Toyota is so smart. The sequoia bumper/grill is so much nicer than the tundra, lots of people will buy it as an upgrade!

 

I can't wait for someone to do an actual grill swap. Time for someone's photoshopping skills. I have none, only MS Paint skills at best.

 

Yeah, the 4auto (lack thereof) thread was also entertaining. Pisses me off the new Sequoia lacks at least one tow hook, the sweet 4A, rolldown rear window, and reduced cargo volume.

 

OR just wrap/paint the bumper on your Tundra. Same same, almost

 

amazing how just painting the bumper makes it a nice looking truck

 

How come some of the Tundras come with black trim on the wheel wells while others are color matched? Is this based on the package option selected or is it entirely random? I feel like I've seen some of the SR5s with the black trim but I know my TRD sport came with color matched instead.

 

It’s all based on trims, trd sport is all colour matched and some people might have already colour matched theirs.

 

Quick question, is keyless entry suppose to work (lock/unlock) with all four doors? Can I touch any of the four handles to unlock the vehicle?

 

Give the manual a glance. There's instructions how to change this setting. Its in one of the head unit menus, as I recall. You can adjust which doors unlock (front only or all 4 doors) when you use keyless entry. As to your other question: Only the front two door handles have the touch to lock/unlock (at least on my SR5...other trims might have it all 4).

 

Thanks, just wanted to confirm. My SR5 only works on front two doors. Thought that was strange, but guess it is what it is.

 

I ordered and replaced all 4 door handles for Limited, only the front 2 doors have the sensors and wiring to detect human flesh. Note that these handles are for any trim would mean, it's safe to assume that all trims only have the front 2 doors with sensors.

Good to know they didn’t short change the SR5 people.

 

It brings up another interesting question (car jacking), if you lock your doors with FOB inside, can someone grab the handle and unlock the door?

 

Can you lock the fob inside? I throw my keys in the center console most days and my truck dings like crazy if I try to lock them inside when I forget them by accident.

 

I would assume it deactivates the key inside somehow but I’ll test it out

Thanks for reminding me how much I miss my (old) F150's 4-button code entry.......so simple, yet so convenient!

..but yes, this is about the only thing I miss about it.

You can hold the driver door handle for 2+ seconds and it'll unlock all doors.

 

I've always thought this feature was pretty slick on Ford's part. I'm a little surprised more manufacturers never adopted it.

The chime is hard to miss when I leave the fob inside. Probably for forgetful dudes like me. haha. It sounds like the annoying seatbelt chime...but on steroids. lol.

 

I touch mine and it instantly unlocks all four, you can change that in the settings.

 

In the case of car jacking, the doors will not unlock if you lock yourself inside and a person on the outside grabs the door handle. That unlock feature only works when the vehicle detects that the key fob is outside of the vehicle. (Tested)

 

I finally took my truck off road and right into the mud. She is completely stock and ran just fine through some pretty deep ruts. I'm gonna have even more fun cleaning her off tomorrow.

 

I hope this guy is not putting aftermarket wheels on this.
