I’ve never expected or demanded my parents leave me anything.
I’ve never understood thinking it’s my parents job to leave me some jackpot winnings.

You’re right, let them enjoy it.

Went out to my truck this morning and opened the center console to get my gun to clean and pack for my upcoming move and wouldn't you know it, the hinge CREAAAAKED..............
Kidding, I have a gen 2.5 when Toyota still cared about quality, not this Gen 3 POS........... :broccoli::boink:

    Relax, I kid, I kid......

As for farting in your car, or any enclosed space, I've never done that unless absolutely necessary, life has enough suffering. I chose to do so in open spaces where I can drop and move leaving the crowd in tears and confusion...... NOTHING worse than getting in your car and smelling yesterdays gaseous expulsions.

Speaking of which I love this classic https://youtu.be/F0bSY_IXsQk

Final Musings..... I ate a TON of White Castle growing up and in College. Was thrilled to see them in the freezer section and have been buying on and off for years, and have converted my 6 year old Grandson to Belly Bombs to my daughters and wifes chagrin..... It's too bad, this is grandpa territory, move on ladies......... So there I was in Kentucky last month getting ready for a move there, and I saw a White Castle. Ordered up a 4 pack and I have to say it was nasty, bread was soggy, and I am sticking with the freezer section........

    OK, I am done here............

My folks (mom and step dad) built a new house and we (my brother, sister, wife and brother in law) helped them move into a 3 level house with a four car garage. The garage was just packed with shit about 3 foot high through out. My step dad was Norwegian. We were standing out in the driveway looking at the open garage. He said, "Just think, one day I will die and this will all be yours." I told him, "When that happens we give you the Viking funeral that you deserve. We will put your corpse on the roof with one of those funny little Viking hats on your head and set that big pile of shit on fire." Well, he eventually did die, tho not in the same house. It cost us 7k and three months to have all that crap hauled off. There were boxes of old curtains that were packed in 1965. They had never been unpacked but had been moved numerous times. My wife and I have done some major purging in the last year.

It may well work out that way, and my Dad certainly didn't set out to die when he did, but the risks are just too high as we age. In your 20-30s you're biggest risks are accidents, and those can happen anytime. Once we break the 40 or 50 year mark there are health related things that can come into play no matter how careful we are. Like I said, to each their own, but not having a Dad as a kid has had a lifelong impact that I wouldn't wish on my own kids. I wish you many more decades of life and love with yours!

Being Debt free is a thing....... Ony things I will finance are houses, education and primary vehicles. Hobbies are cash only. When to finance depends on the deal. Do you want 0% or 1.9% interest or a big discount on purchase. Dealers aren't going to go willingly to the least profitable outcome for them. I buy a new car every 10-12 years, will likely go 15 on the Tundra. 5 years before purchase I save $$ to get to at least 75% of what I expect to spend, then add trade and walk out the door. We HATE any debt, and don't buy into the modern way of credit. Our cars are paid for, all my motorcycles are paid for, 2 of our 3 houses are paid for, and last house will be paid off next year. Living below your means and within your means is very smart, and buying cash straight up is the way to go. It amazes me how many people roll negative equity into new car purchases and 'justify' it with a low interest rate. But hey, you do you, I'll do me.

Remember, anyone dropping cash on a purchase has been making $$ in interest and investments before purchase. Depending on the market, buying cash and continuing to invest can make sense. I was completely content selling stocks at a peak skimming off the profits and buying straight up. Then save $$ build up a decent balance and buy on the dips.

That's us except sold a rental house and used the proceeds to pay off our primary mortgage
Our only debt is the credit card bill. It's 2% cash back. Everything we can is paid by card that's paid off every month.

Obviously not a fool, just at the age (77) where using cash makes more sense than paying someone to borrow their money. My wife and I both have pensions plus SS, have Tricare for Life and Medicare and I’ve been a saver since I joined the Navy at 17. As for my credit rating, it’s 800+. Both my kids are well off financially and don’t need my money so it’s mine to do with as I want.

Fools are those who finance their trucks, pay outrageous sums to jack them up, put on big tires and small wheels, pay for huge bumpers with winches, then drive them to the mall to impress their friends while knowing they’ll never take them off the highway onto even a dirt road. This probably describes 90% of the commenters on this thread.

I resemble that remark.............. LOL, not on the maroons who drive parking lot queens, am about to retire from the Army (2 years) and enjoy TriCare for life........ May hit you up for some insight. I plan to retire to Northern VA and get my old man care from Walter Reed.

I'm basically on a VA Pension for the rest of my life. It's gotta be 0% for $$$ expensive items, a little over that for vehicles, and I also do the cash back things on my credit cards. As soon as the purchase posts, I pay it off. I love my Amazon card for that.

Check the build link in my signature.
I was with you till you had to toss this in there.
Then the “better than you” asshole attitude slipped out of disguise.

who the fuck are you to judge what anyone else wants to spend their money on or how they spend it? I don’t necessarily agree with it either, but I’m not gonna go douchebag over it…

Seems there’s a great number of people judging me…just returning the favor. By the way, “who the fuck are you to judge” (using your words) what I think or say about “what anyone else wants to spend their money on or how they spend it” is none of your concern.

My bud I grew up with, that’s raising his grandkids disagrees.

But most of my friends that had kids at a younger age didn’t quit parenting at 18.
    The expenses only grew.
