Anyone running Toyo AT2

Anyone running the Toyo Open Country AT2? I've heard good things so far but have no experience with Toyo. I'm looking for a good all terrain tire that will do well in snow, sand and mild off roading. I'm heading to Moab in a few weeks and don't want to have traction issues due to a poor tire choice.

Lots of people here running AT2s. Really solid tires.

The vast majority around here are running AT2, Duratrac, or Grapplers (ridge or trail).

Duratrac is the highest rated AT snow tire in its class.

AT2 is highest rated for mud.

Grapplers are highest rated in wet conditions.

Hope this helps. But yes. You should do well with the AT2s. Really solid tires.

 

Awesome, I was looking at all 3 of those tires. Really wanted the ridge grappler but they are an extra $200 and I'm having a hard time justifying them when I rarely leave pavement due to my current location..

got some AT2's. They're okay in wet and snowy conditions, and pretty good in mud.

still a high rated tire in my opinon, although I do want to try duratracs and/or the ridge graps or the toyo equivalent.

 

I have toyo R/T. Great tires. I really like TOYO brand. My buddy has the AT2 on his tacoma. He swears by them..lol

 

I am impressed with the warranty. Haven't seen any other AT tires that even have a warranty.

Before I bought my AT's, from what I saw, in some instances, toyo AT's can last up to 70k

 

I've seen MT's out in the world last 70K (I use to work for Toyo), you should be able to get them out of AT's.....i currently have RT's and love them! I will most likely do AT2's on my next go around.

 

Man I haven't heard or seen of any MT lasting 70k! That's an accomplishment!!

 

Yea use to see it up in Wyoming and such with the oil trucks. Thing that always impressed me the most though was throwing a new set on and then balancing perfectly with no weights needed

 

THAT is always impressive to me!!

I only needed two weights on one tire. Still rides like a dream!

I run the AT2 on my 4runner and I have to say that I will not buy them again due to the wet traction. On concrete, such as entrance and exit ramps for interstates, they have zero traction if going faster than 30mph. They seem to be ok on asphalt, but not concrete. And they hydroplane badly compared to other tires I have ran on the same vehicle. I love the look of the tread pattern and I purchased these based on that and the reviews, but they scare me in the rain. I have the later version that has the 65000 mileage warranty which typically means harder compound, so that might be the reason they are slick in rain. But on a curved concrete ramp, you better hang on and know how to correct a sideways slide.

 

I have never hydroplaned on my AT's, nor slid on a curved ramp. The only thing that comes close to what you're describing is they will spin a bit accelerating from a dead stop if I hit the gas too hard. It still doesn't take much.

 

Yeah, I understand, but that is my experience with a Gen4 4runner. Maybe the weight difference with the Tundra plays into that, but the 4runner has no side bite in the rain on concrete ramps if I hit the curve faster than 30mph.

 

I have the R/T's and Love them so far. It has only been a few months but I have no complaints.

I have AT2's on my first gen, from my experience they are pretty well rounded solid tire, good over all, only a slight hum on the highway is my only complaint which is not much.

 

I have around 22,000k on a set of TOYO A/T2s and am very happy so far. My first set of TOYOs, but definitely not my last.

Wore out a couple pair of DuraTracs on my other truck (liked them), and a couple pairs of Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmours (never again) before the DuraTracs.

I'll be replacing my current set of TOYOs with another. Probably R/T's the next time around. Just a better fit for my driving than the A/T's, not a knock in anyway against them.

 

I will likely get the AT2 for my next tire. I have ko2s now and they are kinda loud and and dont balance well. That being said though i currently have 38k miles on them and ill prob make it close to 50k before i need to replace them.
