    Howdy Folk,

    I have a 2020 Tundra 1794:

    * Leer glass tonno

    * Goodyear Wrangler “E-rated” tires”

    * 2” coil overs and rear leveling blocks

    * TRD Rear sway bar

    * Road Master Active Suspension springs on the rear

    * Blue Ox WDH

    I tow a Jayco 224BHW. dry hitch weight 445 lbs. It tows fine. Had it Wyoming and Montana last December and back to the SF Bay Area…No troubles at all.

    I am considering removing the tonno and putting in a Titan ATV bed rack to haul my ATV Honda Rubicon, 700 lbs. In the bed amd tow the Jayco.

    It will put me a about 200lbs over the payload for the truck but well under the CGVWR.

    Would like to hear from others that have done this or similar.

    Unless you’re towing the trailer dry, your hitch weight will be higher. Water, propane, battery or batteries…

    I’d say one or the other, but not both, and I regularly haul a Honda Rancher or tow a 16’x8’ cargo trailer. In my case, it’s a camperized trailer that can haul two quads, then boot them out, lower the queen sized bed, roll out the awning, and camp is set up. It’s the only way I could make it work with our payload rating, and it works well for me.

    You’re better off consulting with a lawyer than the internet for this to understand your liability/risks. When you go over payload by a few hundred pounds your truck probably won’t catch fire. Will you be able to stop safely when a van full of nuns pulls out in front of you on the interstate? Who knows.

    My TT is advertised as having a 415# dry tongue weight. Once I get loaded up with myself, my wife and our Lab I'm guessing I can't put much more than 150# in the bed before I'm overloaded. I even took out 114# of rear seats.

    What @landphil said…. One or the other definitely not both. You do have good modifications that assist but it does not change the trucks capabilities.

    And every little bit of weight adds up. My ATV was far heavier than listed on Yamaha’s website due to aftermarket tires, lights, wheels, handle bars, etc etc.

    Do the math.

    payload is what? Go weigh your 1794 (nice option BTW). Get front and rear axle weights as well.

    subtract rack weight (80 lbs), people, hitch.

    Load up the trailer as if going out on a trip and weight again. Complete vehicle/trailer (GCW), pull forward to just have trailer axles and rear axle of truck, pull forward far enough to get the rear tires of truck off scale, record weight. Then drop jack and uncouple from truck. Now you have tongue weight and actual weight of the TT.

    If you want that all at once, buy a 3/4 ton and be good to go, same fuel mileage but thicker bones...

    If you have a 6.5 ft bed id possibly consider this myself. However if you have a 5.5ft bed you’re just out of room. Buy an 8ft bed truck if you have a big quad like that
