On my 2016 Tundra crewmax. I recently went camping and wanted to blow up mattress with dealt inverter. When I tried it it didn't work, but was charging phones through USB port on inverter...I thought inverter was no good, but I tried inverter in different car and it worked fine... I've checked the fuses and they didn't look blown...I've also tried all my ciggarette lighter ports, nothing...why isn't drawing enough power, and a car does?...Does any know?

Is this the factory inverter? My SR5 didn't come with one :(. The old FJ had one though, it had 2 different wattage "settings"--one with the vehicle running, and one with the vehicle turned off.

I'd imagine the design is the same. Some of Toyota's add-ons haven't changed designs in literally decades (ex: the cruise control on my '86 4 Runner is the same control I have on my '16 now)

No, this is a Dewalt inverter that you plug in to the CIG outlet

Was the truck running? Have you tried anything else in the cig lighter plugs in your truck?

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
^^^^^^^^^^ I would try it out on different cigarette lighter ports with the truck RUNNING. If you have already tried this, I am betting it is not pulling enough electricity from truck. Good Luck!

Cadillacs are notorious for blowing fuses after not working the unit. Might need to buy a real inverter and relocate it under the seat for actual ability to use it

USB charging indicates the inverter is getting power. The inverter works on another vehicle. I'm guessing the inverter has a voltage sensing circuit that shuts down the inverter if it doesn't see sufficient voltage. The only thinkg I can think of is that the lighter ports in your 3rd gen may be voltage regulated to +12 volts, and the inverter expects a higher voltage that would normally be present only when the vehicle is running.

Use a voltmeter and check the running voltage of the lighter ports with the Truck running. Then do the same in the car in which the inverter works. I bet you see a difference.

Pretty sure a 140W, 14V, therefore 10 Amp inverter, P=IE, won't run a 120V compressor. Check the amp rating on your compressor.

What is the actual voltage on the lighter? It may be less than 12-14 v. A phone charge only uses 3-5v

Just look at the Amp draw on your 120V compressor.
