Just received notice my hardware shipped this morning. I’m ridiculously excited to get off the overloaded (at times unusable) 4G network at our lake house and finally be able to have a reliable high-speed connection while away from my home office.

Anyone here running Starlink? I’d like any feedback or reviews on setup/mounting and operation. I’m thinking of a portable pole mount so I can take it with me fairly easily to Colorado when we travel. Hoping the receiver is durable as we get some nasty monsoons the second half of summer.

I should be able to post my review in a couple weeks.

About 3 months - but my understanding is service location dictates roll out not time on list…

I’ve had Starlink for about 6 weeks now. It works really well. There are occasions when video will freeze for a few seconds when streaming, but there are trees around my house so the antenna does not always have the clear view it needs. These occurrences are not frequent enough or long enough to cause any real issues. Overall I am very pleased with the service. The slowest speeds I’ve seen were about 35mb’s and the fastest was about 215. The wireless router works really well in every room in my house and all over my 1/2 acre back yard. If you have any specific questions, ask away.

I have been on SL for over a year. (Was in the Beta Group) I have the 1.0 dish (round) vs the new 2.0 (square) dish.
When it first started I would get several outages throughout the 24 period. Maybe three or four a day of 1 min or longer. Now I might get an outage of 8 sec or so within a week. Most days it might show an outage of 2 seconds in a 24 hour period.
When we first started I could get up to 250meg down and 20meg up. They have since "leveled" that to more like 150meg down and 10-15meg up. It has to do with the number of subscribers now vs when I first started and I was one of the few that had it. I never have had issues of buffering any video like Prime or Netflix.

Just make sure you have an unobstructed view of the northern sky. Once it is set up the disk does not move. We are in NM at 5800ft and never had any issues with snow either. The dish runs a bit warm so it melts most snow and ice. I also have not had an issue with it getting hot in the sun. Our dish is below the parapets of our house so it also is protected from most wind.

I am quite pleased with it. I dumped my Xfinity within two months of having SL. Yes it is more expensive. $500 initial investment for the base station and now $110 a month. BUT I will never go back to COMCAST if I have SL as an option.

    Good luck on your instillation.

    ~TBS

Came home and captured some stats. Shows the outages for last 12 hours (zero)
Also shows the obstructions of my current setup.
The key is to have little to no obstruction and you will have little to no outages.

I just got this for my house https://www.t-mobile.com/isp?gclsrc...e7TUYveGmU7U7jdUjSfFRm0CQQnh1gf8aAuuKEALw_wcB
A few months ago, it is fast enough for my sons and could be faster with a antenna. ATT and Verizon are now just getting the same setup (C-band) service, most likely to compete with Starlink. The great lakes shipping company i work for is trying one of the 5g systems from the big 3 to see how it works. I pay $50 a month with no caps or speed restrictions.

Appreciate the info! Love those speeds! We have a good lot for having a clear view to the north so we shouldn’t have any issues.

Has anyone added a second dish to their account so they can go back and forth between two locations without having to move anything? This is for our vacation property but I’d love to run in at home as well and ditch comcast.

We got it for our hunting camp in AL. There's nothing out there, hard to get cell coverage from all the major providers. Starlink kicks ass. I didn't do the set-up, but the dish searches for the best possible signal based on the location. We just have it sitting on a raised well cover.

I've got that T-Mobile 5G gateway as a backup circuit. Wife and I both work from home so we get pissed when our primary internet (Cox fiber) drops. I was getting upwards of 500mbps up and down when I tested it after first getting it. It's awesome if you're in an area with coverage.

has alot of good info for getting the best speeds out of a 5G network, i was going to get Starlink but the per month price was a little on the high side for a cheep Finlander.

Once I figure out where the gateway will live (with all the other network equipment) I’m definitely planning to nerd out on optimizing its placement. I read about a guy that cracked his open and ran an external antenna too. Not sure I’ll go that far…

Awesome speeds! We’re currently in an area with no internet coverage, have been relying on cell hotspots. Lately those speeds and connection reliability have dropped tremendously. Been on the SL waiting list for over a year now. Hopefully soon!

My kit is waiting for me at home for when I return from a trip. Customer service couldn't delay shipping, and I lose my place in line (two years!?) if I didn't order when my ticket was up. Of course, billing starts after ship date regardless of when I set up the unit.

I'm trying this for the house but ultimately I think an in-motion receiver is part of the build plan for the bed of the tundra. I'm scared to see pricing but can't wait to be able to do remote learning with the truck as a base station.

We were in our house for 10 months before we finally got spectrum to sink 3 poles and run 2500 feet of line to our house. It took forever just to talk to someone capable of making the decision to approve the “job”. I knew I’d have to pay for the job and constantly offered/reminded them. Thankfully our cellphones worked at the time and we didn’t get throttled for data usage too bad with unlimited plans. Our internet was connected 2 weeks into lockdown. 2 teenagers with “online school” helped speed the process up slightly towards the end I think.

it was really frustrating being told that our address was not serviceable when our “neighbors” across the street (2500 or so feet away) had it.
“Yes I understand it is currently unserviceable, but so was the rest of the country until you drop poles and run lines”. Morons.

Been on the SL wait list for 2 months. Can't wait to get off of XFinity. They have data caps. I had Spectrum at my other house which had no data caps nor did I have service outages.

well canceled, for twice the price as AT&T and $600 up front getting about the exact same speed and only a few days left for full refund. Very disappointed I wasn't getting the speeds I was seeing on youtube. Ran almost two weeks got as low as 10-15 mbps.

Here's ours. We went with the Starlink RV package for our towable trailer and have been using it while out camping. We do special event medical stuff at festivals sometimes and cell service is either non-existent or really flaky at events.. Speeds have been decent. Even at home in the middle of Sacramento I can still get acceptable speeds & latency from it. At have AT&T Fiber at home and am really happy with it but when we're out in the middle of nowhere, so far Starlink has been worth it. also happy that we can pause/unpause service too.

Sorry that it didn’t work better - at least you got your money back. I just tested mine at home for the first time and it smokes my Comcast high speed that costs almost as much.
