I can't seem to find a true mesh jacket. Like see thru, but with armor. My uncle has a Joe rocket one, but I can't find it.

im thinking about ordering this one from cycle gear. Its a bilt for $80. I’ll just have to be extra safe, cause i bet its chintzy.

my buddy has the bilt nomad air, says its breaths pretty good. I’ll ride out to a few places and see what they have in stock.

Doesn't look bad. My Alpinestars jacket is "mesh", but it's still solid. It's pretty hot once it hits 85.

It's got some solid reviews and the armor in it is supposed to be pretty good for the money. When I was still toying with the idea of a bike it was top of my list for armor. Can always wear something warmer or waterproof over it, but then you don't have to buy an armored set for everything. It's an ideal base layer IMO.

Nice, we had a '72 Chevelle 402 until just before I was able to drive. Local kid who bought it wrapped it around a telephone pole 2 weeks after my parents sold it.

    BMW Airhead Tech Day...

I found out about "tech day" last Tuesday at the BMW weekly meetup when we had a picnic style dinner at Rudd Pond, part of Taconic State Park, in Copake, NY.

Wayne, a well known BMW rider, rolled into the dirt parking lot just ahead of me.

    He's 87 years old.

I'm told if you ride behind him, good luck keeping up.

"Going to tech day this Saturday?" he asked.

I got the details...it was to be held on a guy named Greg's property in New Fairfield, CT. He is the Connecticut "Airmarshall" for airheds.org.

I met Ray about 8:30 am and we rode backroads and dirt roads south from Millerton, and wow was this a cool event.

Greg's barn has about six motorcycle lifts, a car lift, lots of tools for machining, I counted four fully stocked rolling tool cabinets with the magic words Snap On, giant air compressors...well, you get the idea. All kinds of cool stuff to drool over, including a 1957 bulldozer he is restoring.

The idea behind tech day is you get the opportunity to work on your bike with help and use of tools from some experts on these "simple" machines known as BMW Airheads. They're not gonna fix it for you while you watch, but they will help you and advise. I did not go to work on my bike, I went to meet people and check out the scene. Had a great time, rode back with Ray (K75), Jim (R100), and Bob (R69 in MINT condition that he has owned for 40 years). Same idea, lots of backroads and dirt roads. Put about 150 miles on the bike that day.

As I sit here with my 2013 CBR250R I bought brand new in 2014 and currently has 1,100 miles on it :|

No current pics as it's in storage for the winter (WI will do that to ya), but I have several excuses: I used to live about 3 miles from work and used it as a commuter vs. the Tundra. So, not a lot of mileage to put on there. And the last two years haven't helped much. After moving a little further, I put ~500 miles on it in 2019 commuting...then COVID happened, and I no longer had anywhere to commute to!

So, this is where we ended up. Wilhelm Family Winery, Elgin, AZ. The ride to and from was absolutely beautiful. It was breezy at about 84°F. Terrific riding weather!

I miss shooting with Joe so much. I’ve been part of 4TheRiders for about 12 years. I’ve traveled all over the US with him.

    Thanks...it's a 1984 R80ST.

Only made in '83 and '84 and only a couple thousand of them imported to the US.
