I drive a 2018 Tundra SR5 double cab, with handful of mods. One being the TRD CAI, I just recently purchased a back up filter ( PTR03–34140 ) that I’m about to install, while I clean, recharge the current TRD filter and put away til needed. Noticed on the new one the media is red. I just figured TRD used a similar oil like K&N or it’s K&N oil. Any one else come across this recently with a TRD filter?

    Thank you.

I’ve also got the TRD intake. I noticed that my back up I ordered had red media. But I made the switch back to a paper oem/Wix filter for higher filtration. Learned the hard way after a long day of wheeling that the other filter definitely didnt filter as well.

Any issues with the Wix with the pre-filter on the bottom, causing any loss off MPG or performance? Was thinking of putting the OEM - 17801-0P100 in the place of the TRD filter inside the CAI air box.

Nope no issues at all. I also cut they prefilter out. Useless piece anyway. Toyota put it in to say it helps with keeping fuel vapor smell out. Lol
