Washing the truck Thursday and see some fresh scuffs in the bed just above and behind the driver side wheel well. I'm using a little wax/compound and not rubbing particularly hard and then "pop." I take a second to process the fact I just replaced my scuff with a dent.

So I unleash a cleverly woven tapestry of expletives and walk to the garage to exchange my waxing junk for the tools to remove the mud flap and fender liner so I can reach the backside of the spot. Remove about 273 tiny 10mm bolts to remove the mud flap and then spend a few minutes looking at those silly push pins holding the liner in. Nearly destroy one before I figure out how they work and remove it.

It's about then I notice that where the pin came out I can see straight through to the ground. I make a point to create another cloud of obscenities that would make the first one blush. Now sweating and exhausted from the effort I put into the vulgarities, I calmly, slowly, put down the tools to crawl down and see that you can reach up to my recently created dent from underneath without removing anything at all.

Reach up, push out the dent, reinstall the mangled pushpin and the 272 bolts to hold the mud flap in place and call it a day. Return later to take picture of clean and dent-free vehicle.

Reminded me of that video with the FBI agent who struggles mightily to climb over the gate to get into a yard, falling, getting caught several times, slips and basically falls into the yard. Next agent turns the handle, opens the gate and walks into the same yard right behind the first jackass...

2"CB shackles, bushings and 1 shim, lockerdown console vault, rear folding seat back mod, snugtop shell with opening side windows, 46g fuel tank, SDHQ sliders and hidden winch, Decked Drawers, Alcan leaf springs and got rid of the interior chrome
I assume you have now, also, lost your 10mm wrench in your efforts to uphold longstanding tradition regarding time wasting and unnecessary endeavors?

I did not, however note that I was one bolt short when reinstalling the mud flaps, so I am quite sure it's imbedded in one of the tires. Just add "installing a flat tire" to the dent install described previously and my work is done here.

Though I understand the frustration, having done similar things myself, I applaud the sharing of the story. It gave me a chuckle on a long and not so great day. Thank you.

From what I've seen in my years as a federal police officer and still see through the Bureau, it's nice to have a bit of levity once in a while. Hoped some would relate or at least get a chuckle at my buffoonery.
