2022 emblem blackout options?

Hearing quotes like that makes me like my chome-stache more and more. haha.

I might have the stache wrapped in black for $250 to $350, but anything north of that seems outrageous.

If there are any wrap shop owners here, I'm sure they'll roast me for saying that. I get there's a lot of labor & skill needed to do it right but I also know that most wrap shops around here HATE doing small jobs like that. So they purposefully jack up the price to try & keep small jobs away. Around here, they're too busy doing high end, full wraps on Teslas, Land Rovers, and other "fancy" cars.

 

Agreed! What hurt almost as much as the price was that they wanted to keep the truck for at least 4 days... sure i could have removed the grill but didnt want to drive around like i just rear ended a city bus and left.

Yea I'm not feeling hopeful unfortunately - going to try and call around to some places local to CO this weekend and see what they say. I have decided I don't hate the chrome door handles, but I absolutely do hate the satin chrome mustache and bumper

It arrived. Didnt fit. Mounting holes were completely off. Size wise they are exactly the same. But mounting is way off. Save your money.

 

How big is the front emblem compared to the one in the 4runner?

 

What was the process you followed to remove the original emblems?

 

What do you have on grills Toyota emblem? Yours looks like it matches dark chrome grill surround.

 

I also have the black platinum with the dark gray grill and rims... But want the black out the Toyota emblem. What did you use? I'm seeing alot of just pop it off and plasti dip it.

I used Vvid ultra gloss black vinyl.
I just got in the OEM black paint and clear. Will likely test it on some similar plastic pieces before spraying whole front. The vinyl is fine on those pieces but no way am I up for doing the entire honeycomb grill in vinyl.

 

To add to my other post, the emblem and surround does not match the black chrome exactly. That’s fine with me as it has been an intermediate fix and goal of just toning down the bright center portion. Each emblem wheel cap and grille will likely get painted with OEM black.

 

Not all SR5s come with black, here is the part # if you want to change the chrome SR5

 

Just a regular old can of black plastidip.

 

Yup, ordered the same kit, but for the Limited. Super deadly; fits perfectly. Amazing how quickly the appearance changes once blacked out.

 

Looks great! I can't wait until they come up with an option for the mustached trim black or color keyed options.

Next time I'm up in ID, I'll let you know and get the name of your shop. That sounds like a good deal. Did you bring the parts to them or did they wrap it on the vehicle?

I called a couple of shops around here not long after I posted that comment in March. Sent pictures of the grill so they could see the 3 pieces. Both shops were within $75 of each other. $800 to wrap it on the vehicle, $650 if I brought the parts to them.

I mean...am I big fan of the chrome? Not really. But, would I rather spend $800 on something that is going to add capability to my truck rather than just be cosmetic? Yes. In the end, for me, removing the chrome can wait awhile longer.

They left the grill in place, taking it off never even came up in the conversation. Originally they said they were going to do the horizontal section with the tundra imprint below the grill also. When I went to pick it up it wasn't done, the owner said they would have to paint it (at no additional cost) which I'm waiting on. Pretty sure the shop manager who I talked to initially was doing bong hits all morning. Quality is good though.

Next will be the emblem blackout.

Wondering if anyone has found a blackout badge for the grille Toyota logo, besides the entire OEM badge kit? I only need the grille badge overlay and don't wanna pay $120+ for the entire kit.

Painted mine a couple weeks ago, 8$ for the paint. I broke one of the tabs taking the emblem off, superglued it back on so far so good.

 

i have one of those. Bought it from ajtdesign-LLC.com. But Toyota sent him a cease and desist letter and he had to stop. Along with the TRD key fob.

He’s trying to petition Toyota to release the letter but needs signatures. Not sure how other companies like TVD and Tufskinz managed to skirt it.
