7C6BE311-0CBA-4418-9243-5BF0DF33E07F.jpg I have a 2005 tundra double cab with 16 in rims, I need tires but I want to also update the wheels to 17 on a budget, I think I’m down to 2 options unless there is a better deal out there.

the wheels would be wrapped in some BFG Ko2

let me know what y’all think

As someone that has BFG K02's, I would go with a cheaper tire so you can spend more on wheels. The BFG is a great tire but there is so much competition in the all terrain segment now that you can find a great tire for less.

I don't know anything about those wheels. Have you considered any Toyota take offs? Our bolt pattern was the same for a bunch of vehicles so there a lot of options out there.

From experience, keep what you have and save up the money for what you really want. I spend so much money on bullshit just to sell and buy what I really wanted.

    Are you due for tires?

Yes, I need tires, I bought truck like this not too long ago but they are cracking in some spots and about 5 years old, plan to do a long road trip in the summer so want some reliable new tires

Bought my 04 DC in 09 and I am on my 3rd set of Toyo Open Country. I have been very pleased to say the least. The only difference in what I see on your truck zooming in is A/T vs H/T that I have since 99.9% of the time I'm on either asphalt or concrete.

I personally like your current wheel setup but I've always been a fan of that style of wheel. My Vision wheels were pretty cheap but it looks like they have gone up in price. For tires, your options are endless. Michelin LTX's are a super quiet all terrain, wear like iron and perform well in all weather conditions. They don't look aggressive but they perform like they are. I have Kenda Klever's on mine and love them.

Well, in that case, BFG's are cool. Just need some new wheels. What's your budget on wheels and what wheel would you like to get?

I personally think that you should spend more of your budget on wheels and then try to find some used tires that you like. I feel like there are tons of tires for sale on craiglist or facebook marketplace. Sometimes you can find both together for a good deal.

Nice looking truck! White double cabs :muscleflexing:

I like the basic look of the pro comp 2. Put some bf at2 on with white lettering out would be great

Your Toyo’s are most likely hands down the best AT’s on the market.

I have run almost all the AT’s, and countless sets of KO2’s. I currently have 3 vehicles in the driveway on KO2’s.

Nothing beats the Toyo’s. I have 60k on mine and they have over 1/2 tread. They ride quite, zero cupping, and I haven’t rotated them in 30k cause they are wearing even front to back.

That being said, I’m going to try the Chinese made Falkin AT3’s, just to see how they compare.

Thank you to everyone! I may just get some new tires either Ko2 or toyo open country since a couple of you said they’re excellent tires! And save up for some nice wheels instead of the budget wheels…

I had pro comp 7032’s on an 04 xterra. They were a great wheel almost ended up with them again lol. Currently running methods though, and my wife’s sequoia has kmc’s.

IMO the wheels you have are just as nice or nicer than the ones you are looking at.
I'd save up for a set that you REALLY like. By the time you're ready to pull the trigger, you may find something you like more.
Personally, I don't get the black wheel thing . . . they blend in so much with the tires it seems pointless to spend extra money on something that's such a 'ghost'. Unless there is performance benefits of course.
I've kicked around looking for a set of Darrel Waltrip BBS wheels that were an option on our trucks, but they're 18", and not sure I want to deal with that. I dig the way they look . . . but I'm an old fart.

I mentioned similar in another post because the OP posted his images backwards, showing black wheels first, silver wheels after, I thought the silver looked light years better and it was a great upgrade going back to OEM silver. But I legit think you and I must be in the minority, the weirdos of the bunch.

I think black wheels look exceptionally bad (quirky) on white or silver trucks, but as a white truck owner with silver OEM wheels, I'm probably biased. Chrome looks bad too. I think silver and/or smoked wheels look light years better on lighter trucks.

I guess this is my hangup: If you're going to do black wheels, why not just put the budget-level truck's stock black steelies on it? They looks almost identical to a cheap steel wheel truck from 100ft, and when vehicle is driving down the road with black wheels, it looks the same, like you're running the base model black steelies (or spares).

No intended slight on OP. Everyone has their style or preference. Black wheels, especially matte black wheels looking like they're plasti-dipped or spray painted, I can't see paying good money for it, much less "upgrading" to more black wheels.

I feel you! And what does your truck look like with silver oem wheels? I saw the post you linked and that truck doesn’t look bad like that with silver wheels @shifty`

Love my KO2's but they are difficult for folks to balance; pretty much have to go Road Force to get them right...
