I'm running 35 front/rear also. It's not terrible, but I can't help but wonder if the ride would be smoother with a softer tire. It probably wouldn't be noticeable. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

The ride on mine has gotten better as they've started to wear in. Mine went on in January.
To be 100% fair, IDK how much air is in them right now. We set them at 35 when they were mounted and I haven't checked them since. Brand new tires, wheels, stems. MFers better still be at 35. :D

No doubt. But at this point do you really want to know.
Mine aren't very worn since my truck doesn't see much mileage, and probably less now since it's warming up and I can ride my bike around town. Or at least it was warm enough to ride my bike on Friday, and then it snowed 3 inches yesterday.

Good grief. Snow in May? I'd be spicy.

Do your MTB trails shut down as soon as it gets wet? They do that shit here and it makes me want to just sell the fucking bike. Our trails are only open a few months a year. Shit is whack.

Ya not that abnormal. Although it's been a cold and snowy spring.
People usually don't ride the trails if it's too muddy, but a little rain usually soaks in pretty fast. Especially later in the summer. Most of our trails are still closed cuz of snow cover.

It's so strange to me that MTB trails ever close for anything other than a race or trail maintenance.

I think it makes sense if trails are really muddy. It can really tear them up and then they have to be closed for repair. But I think it depends on multiple factors and comes down to using good judgement. I've gone during/after rain and no risk of damage.
What really pisses me off is the trails here that have outlawed bikes, but allow horses or the multi-use trails that allow them. Much bigger impact and way more damaging. Not to mention the horse shit that's left behind, but I'm supposed to pick up after my dog that shit 200 yards off the trail. End of rant.

To get back to truck related stuff, has anyone drilled into the side of their bed? I bought 2 of these rails and I'm looking to rivnut them to the sides of the bed but am a little worried about how big the space is in there and don't want to go through the other side.

Not sure I understand that part but our beds are approx 20 ga sheet metal. Zooming in on the 04-06 bed below might help ? The right side is minus top trim which might help determine.

Looking to add the rails here (in red), and it sounds like there's open space here, but wasn't sure if anyone has drilled into it?

Ive drilled into areas on the sides of the bed like that. Added some wire holders and used self tapping screws to drill into the bed. Its probably like 1/16th inch thick and then a bit of open space before it reaches the outer bed metal. May not have explained that the best but hope it makes sense.

I can double check when i get home but i think the space between the inner and outer metal is atleast an inch.

I put my coopers on in July of 18, and didn't check them till February this year. The all had about 20psi. Not bad I'd say. Guess I'm good to go another 3 1/2 years.

That's helpful. I'll try a small pilot hole and maybe this will be a good time to buy one of those unnecessary (but maybe justifiable) endoscopes or borescopes. Then I could take a look around and see if there's anything I need to worry about drilling into. And cuz I want another tool.

There's room. You won't drill though your bedside, but you might ding it when the drill bit pushes through the inner sheet metal. Run a bit stop or a heavy hand stop. Go slow, or fast but very light pressure with a stop in mind.

20 feels ‘squishy’ to me on pavement. Pump those bad boys up to to 40 and I bet you’ll get at least 2-3 more MPG. I log the majority of my miles on the freeway, and I keep the E-rated 35’s @ 45psi. That’s the only way I can squeeze 13 mpg out of the gas guzzling bee-otch

In preparation for an upcoming smog test, and because I had not yet done it, I removed and cleaned throttle-body and MAF sensor today. Inside of TB was coated in gunk. A lot of it. Truck seems to start quicker, throttle response is more lively. All good, except it seems to be idling higher. Well before I did this, I had planned on using a scanner to note several values to compare before and after. I also planned on taking pics. Fail and fail. What’s the high idle about? Anybody?

Teset the computer? Maybe the IAC compensates for the gunk over time?

It simply needs to relearn since you have improved metered air properties….more air, ECU compensates by giving more fuel. Your RPM should be approx 1200 until warm and settle to approx 700 at idle(FSM lists 700 +- 50 RPM)….at least mine does. You can either reset ECU as @Sirfive suggested or put it in drive for 3-4 min, then add a load(AC on high, Temp and Fan) for 3-4 min. Since you have a scanner, take a look at your Short/Long Fuel trims. You’re experiencing normal results especially if it was as dirty as you describe.

Did you pop off neg batt cable while doing the work?

Should return to normal within a few dozen miles, if not, then I'd be worried.

Anyone ever messed with a gm 4.3 v6 that had the baffle on the throttle plate? I wonder if the tundra computer could learn to compensate with something like that. Reduced turbulence Or increased velocity at low throttle… i need a dyno.

I’ve been eyeing something like this for while just having got around to trying it . I meant to ask you the other day too how that tire carrier you’ve got mounts.

You can't see all the way across because where the wheel well is it's welded together.

That's a really good idea. I didn't think of accessing it that way. I'll give that a shot. Or I might just trust @alb1k and line it up and start drilling. I just got a set of step bits.

If you're not in a rush, I can try it out and report back. I found the rails on ebay for about $40 compared to the expensive Toyota brand ones.

The tire carrier uses tension and wedges between the floor and the bedrail. When you tighten the wheel to the carrier it pulls it inward and keeps it from popping out. You have to be careful not to overtighten it to where it bends the bedrail.

When I installed @daveeasa 's tag light disable harness, I swear I could see the entire backside of the tail light housing from under the underside of the truck. Not sure how much you gain popping off the housing, but That would probably work.

I have plates. An entire day lost to the fridge ($0.01 spring) and dmv (smog, attempt 1, vin verification, weight attempt 1, weight success, final paperwork).

it’s not so terrible when you go in expecting it’ll be painful.
