Talked to 2-3 dealers today. A limited 4x4 crewmax without TRD Off-road, JBL, bed liner, etc still doesn’t exist in Oregon. I’ve seen people in the Midwest with them, but they don’t exist out here. Guess I’ll be waiting a while. Might not be a bad thing but my Tacoma is worth it’s weight in gold right now…

Bare bones no TRD, JBL, bed liner, etc? We have tons of those with all that crap. I just don’t need 4-4.5k in fluff. Also, not interested in the hybrid either, but I’ll check out both of those dealers. Thanks!

Finally got to drive a 2022 Tundra XP yesterday. My impressions were as follows. Completely blown away by the Lexus like ride & smooth acceleration. I have a GX 460 that shifts butter smooth & the Tudnra was just as smooth. It had 2k on it & was priced at 61k. For the money, I thought it was pretty basic inside. No heated seats? Kept waiting for that big v8 sound & there was none, kinda felt like an electric car. Barely touched the gas, looked down & I was doing 85mph! Payload sticker 1395lbs as shown below as well as the payload from a 2020 Power Wagon 3/4 ton that completely shocked me! Didn’t even bother driving the Power Wagon after seeing the payload.

    A bunch
The payload is the trade off for off road capability. The Raptor has the same issue, and I'd imagine the TRX. And why the HD Tremor package is such a success - more capable off road but no ding in payload or towing.

Good morning, I apologize if this belongs in another side of the forum, but was wondering if anyone knows of a great mechanic or dealership in and around Washington DC willing to install a leveling kit for a good price?

XP package is just a plain jane SR5 were they replace the wheels, tires, floor mats, exterior decals and add some other interior bits for about 5-10k markup. and you dont even get the old wheels/tires back so they make more profit on the resale of the oem wheels.

also this applies to the TSS package the other region sells.

i think XP is SET region and TSS is GST region version

XP is an extra trim package. Usually big wheels and blacked badges.

Haha that’s funny cause I wanted a limited CM WITH the TRD OR package here in the Midwest and all we get here is WITHOUT the TRD OR. My dealer said they haven’t really seen any of those yet so I settled for an SR5 with the TRD OR premium package with options which is the highest possible package making the SR5 more expensive than the limited. But all I can get while I wait for my TRD Pro. Which I did just find out from my dealer they have an allocation of the TRD Pro white, but there are two people ahead of me and if they decline it, then it’s mine.

Looks like one of our local tire shops has a new Tundra. Couldn't tell which trim.

Nothing wrong with being runnerup to the most popular truck of all time. I'm not sure how I feel about the tacoma vs ranger, but hopefully the taco update will be great.

XP Package is a $3000 add on in South Florida. Contemplated getting it on mine, but I don't like the predator steps.

i have no issue with the XP or TSS packages, some people just like the convenience of having someone else do the legwork of getting wheels/tires, etc and putting them into a package at a price premium compared to if you do it yourself and saving ~$1200 to $3000.

either pay the premium for a turn key setup or save money and do it yourself.

haha it’s so annoying. You would think at least a few of every model would go to each state. I guess the models we want are not popular where we live.

The first dealer I put a deposit down with told me the TRD sport package were rare in their allocations. The dealer 30 miles away from them has gotten a bunch. Crazy how they allocate.

dealer allocation can vary wildly from dealer to dealer.

there is a bunch of stats that can affect it. i go into some detail how this may affect a dealer in this long post

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/who...ew-truck-pics-here.99307/page-68#post-2750901

    in a nutshell

    1. previous quarter/yearly toyota regional sales quota's being met or not (this is a big metric not just for one model but all models this dealer sells)

if a dealer is selling 200-300 toyota a quarter, they will get more allocations than a dealer selling 50-80 a quarter for that region. good example is some fo the texas dealers are moving around 100 toyota a month on average

    2. is this a primary or secondary toyota dealer (primary are toyota exclusive dealers, secondary are dealers that sell other brands along side toyota's -- not used car dealer either)
    3. and a few other minor stats i cant remember right off the bat

if you can make toyota's quarterly metrics, you can make pretty good money from the hold backs and kick backs for making quota's per quarter. i know one dealer that makes about $250k per quarter from making sales quota's. instead of nickel and diming customers, they just move by volume. also the sales people make more money since they make sales quota's from the dealer that they give them for making metrics.

Im surprised RAM won best heavy duty. Every fleet truck I see on the road is Ford or GM.

I didn't read the entire article but my guess is it's based on the interior features, rather than anything truck guys actually care about.

Sounds like all their ratings were based on specs on paper, not on any actual real world testing.
