There is officially a new Tundra recall. I believe it only involves the camera system. For some reason it can’t be OTA update. It has to be brought to the dealership for the software update recall. I think it’s mainly the early production Tundras and only on about 18k of them.

    what’s everyone’s thoughts?

I honestly think this isn’t a real issue and not something to worry about. I wouldn’t classify this as a QC issue either. It just needs a software update for the PVM cameras. Just curious as I thought the Tundras are supposed to be able to have OTA updates and with this it has to be brought to the dealership for the update.

The displays can receive OTA updates (media / gauge cluster), it's unlikely the various other chips throughout the vehicle can get the same.

My Tundra has been acting weird lately. My toggle switches screeches like the radio is on yet the radio is off. Every time I hit a bump or I'm on a rough road, it makes noise constantly. I live far from a dealership but as soon as I can, I want to get this resolved.

Hmm…wouldn’t the PVM and camera system involve the media system?

I'm not sure. I though it was the dash who was shaking at first but turns out, it's electrical. I didn't get my recall letter yet.

I would download the Toyota app if you haven’t and get your account registered so you can see info on your Tundra. The app will tell you if you’re one of the affected Tundras that fall under this recall regarding a software update.

It notifies you in the app if you need to bring your truck in. But doesn’t mean they won’t send a letter out still.

I had it done a week ago. Came out the day I dropped it off. The tech just happened to find it. "Oh shit, this just popped up. Let's try this." Had been having problems with the Front Camera giving me "Unicorn Poop". Giant bright colored pixels from the front camera came on in reverse. Seems like it worked....... Now if my Gibson exhaust would show up.

Let us know how that exhaust performs when you get it. Curious if an exhaust upgrade is worth it in performance gain. Not too concerned about sound. I have heard good reviews on the magnaflow exhausts for 22 Tundras. They already have a couple versions out (but those reviews were more focused on the sound. Want to know what it does to acceleration and mpg)

And you probably won’t if you don’t have a 2022 to go along with your 2020.

    I traded my 2020 for my 2022.
