Supposed to be a Toyota branded BakFlip MX4, which is why it's almost impossible to buy a BakFlip

Oem is great in my opinion. Easy install. Does a great job keeping everything dry. I live in Seattle and we get rain 11 months out of the year lol. Hasnt let me down. Also sits flush with the bed. No complaints. It just cant take much weight on top of it in case you're looking to stand on it.

Can confirm the same. I also owned an MX4 on my previous truck and can vouch for it. Solid, durable, and didn't leak. Only complaint is that the top could get scratched and underside was susceptible to dents.

I think the OEM is essentially a Bakflip rebranded. I was going to go that route and no dealer around me would sell just the cover; they all mandated a $292 install fee!

I had order one in March it has been delayed four times already which I get but I have had two e-mails from them asking to review the cover when it hasn't even been shipped. I finally cancelled the order yesterday when I found out they charge my credit card a few weeks ago and it still wasn't schedule to ship for another few weeks.

Their practice of misrepresenting the availability is frustrating. I didn't have an issue with the upfront charge for the order until it became clear they weren't sure when the product would be available.

Also learned today Toyota has a 179 count backorder on the OEM/Bakflip (Atlanta metro), with only 5 in transit. Obviously could be a long wait for the Toyota/Bakflip covers with little supply.

Seems like the problem is deflection caused by the a gap between the plastic bedrail cap and the actual bed side. I wedged a plastic puck in there and the cover latches on perfectly now. Truxedo could simply include a wedge that could attach to that bolt seen here and/or one behind the bedrail cap. This wedge got rid of all movement the rail had when pushing down on it to latch. Not shown in this pic but the cover rail is flush on top of the bedside. Janky solution but it worked.

Undercover Triad. It fits ok…. Could be longer over the tailgate. Installed in the rain so don’t know how it does in the rain yet.
I didn’t realize when I ordered it but they’re using the same p/n for the 2022 cover as the previous generation years so they probably didn’t actually change the cover for the 2022s. Maybe just updated it or the hardware supplied with it.

Here is a bit of detail missing from my previous post regarding the modification I did to fit the BillieBars with Rough Country Tri-fold hard cover.

I've been on a list as interested since August and confirmed I wanted a TRD Pro in December. I was first at my dealer for a TRD Pro but there's a chance my colour choice may have reordered my allocation order.

Installed the UnderCover Armor Flex, wish I could say the install was simple, but it was a pain in the butt. And it uses the built in utility rail but I can’t use the thing now for the bed cleats? ‍

Are you talking about the adjustable tie downs on the deck rail? Might post a pic about what you're referring to.

Agreed. I also placed an object in this space with success. Truxedo really does need to add a fix to the kit and offer it to customers that already purchased the ProX15.

I had that model of undercover with my last tundra. I was still able to use the adjustable tie downs. I had to insert the bracket that goes closest to the cab, then insert the tie down, then the next bracket, then the second tie down. You have to slide the tie downs back into the rail before putting in the rear bracket.

I’m interested in this as well since I was planning to order the Undercover Ultra Flex. I have it on my ‘21 F-150 and want it on my ‘22 Tundra. I wish it were compatible with both

The way the cover rails are, I don’t see how I can have one installed and still close the cover.

I had the same problem with my new Retrax. I backed the knob off as far as I could so the t shaped screw was as long as possible and I was able to get the cleats in at an angle. It took some wiggling and it may work for yours.

FYI, if you get a Retrax and your tailgate won’t drop automatically try a little plastic safe grease on the seal. The seal is very tacky and catches on the tailgate without any lube.

I wonder if it would work if you installed the adjustable cleats before installing the tonneau cover. You’d obviously be restricted to where you placed them, but maybe that would work. I ask because I’d like to have them too once I get a tonneau cover.

Has anyone gotten the Bakflip MX-4 cover yet? I put my order in the first week of April, and have been delayed at least 3 times.

I’ve had 3 extang solid trifolds on my previous trucks. All worked really well.

question for the backflip/oem cover…. How close is the cover to the window when all folded up? Can I load my quad into the truck with the front tires up against it? Even though it was easy, it was still annoying to have to take the extang completely off the truck when putting the quad in

There's your problem. You have to put the tie down cleats back on the rail before you put the last rail clamp onto the rail. Also, you have your cleat turned vertical, should be horizontal. I gaurentee it fits in there, had the exact same set up.

Good to hear. Please report back on the shims when you get them. Pics of shims and installed would be great too.

Well after my 3rd delay for the MX4, I called my local dealership and they had the OEM in stock. Paid $85 more than the MX4, but at least I was able to install it today and not have to worry if the contents of the back of my truck will go missing (and able to finally take it to the car wash) which I did yesterday. Some water did get in, maybe about 6-8 oz, but generally speaking, it kept it drier than the Retrax did on my previous Tundra.
