I think i over paid too but it’s around the same as yours. I paid $21k for a 2011 with 120k on the odometer back in november. Clear coat is coming off the roof so not as good condition as yours.

 

I feel it's a fair price honestly here in the Southwest. Toyota 4x4's are so expensive compared to everywhere else. Mine is not perfect, the white paint hides the defects. I really prefer that dark gray paint like yours. Such a good-looking truck!!! Congrats!!!

im still more shock at the tacoma resale vs the tundra. Seems like the tacoma is more expensive for the same year tundra.

 

hahaha Yeah Tacoma resale value is nutter butters haha. I was talking to my in-laws about that yesterday because we were trying to determine how much to list his 2001 Tacoma for.

For example, I sold my 2013 Tacoma w/257,000 miles a month ago for $19,000.00

Gave my center caps a face lift today. Placement was kind of a pain in the ass but worth the 15 bucks shipped. Also comes with two extra sets of decals. I made it harder on myself and didn’t remove the wheels to remove the center caps for application. But they came out awesome way better than before. I recommend them to anyone with patience and a hand for tinkering to perfection.

Don't have a Rock Warrior but I got these wheels the other day. In decent shape, but pretty rough and corroded on the inside surfaces - like they never got properly washed, ever.

Some citrus degreaser/vinegar + steel wool and elbow grease and they cleaned up pretty nice. I used a Dremel with a flapper sanding wheel on the mounting surfaces ... just enough pressure to clean it up and not remove any material.

Center caps were terrible; used the Dremel to clean them up and shot them with PlastiDip. Looks alright. Gotta live with them, parts for these wheels are impossible to find now that they're discontinued.

Question for the collective: do you have to remove the rings for mounting tires? Started removing one ring last night and naturally the last f*cking T30 head started to strip before it would let loose. If I don't need to do this, I'll happily leave it alone and put the ring back on. They're already slightly scratched up, so I don't really care if the installer at Discount adds a mild scratch or two. They might polish up nicely after the fact. At the same time, I'd still kinda like to get them off for cleaning and plan to try some Blaster + heat + impact tool. The ones I removed did have blue Loctite on the threads...

Also wondering if it's a good idea to put some anti-seize on the hub mounting surfaces, since corrosion is guaranteed between aluminum and steel - which can make getting the wheels off a bitch.

Going with 285/75/17 KO2s ... want to get things tucked back in vs. throwing debris all over the side of my truck and ruining the paint, which is what my current setup is doing @ +18 offset and 295/60/20 tires.

 

The guy I bought mine from had the rings plastidipped and said the tire shop he went to tore the plastidip on 1 out of the 4 rings but did not do any permanent damage to them. Probably fine as long as the tech is aware that the ring is not a bead lock and is carefully working around it.

 

Does the ring need to be removed for the tire to come off and on? If so I’m dreading the day I have to mess with them before I get new tires…

 

What I was told tore the platidip on mine was the bead breaker because it was not removed while the work was being done. I cannot confirm that but that is what the previous owner told me.

 

I'm gonna keep going on this one bolt and see if I can get it out, and make a determination of whether or not I want to do the other 3 rings and risk more stripped heads. I can lift the ring up and see that it's pretty damn dirty between the ring and rim which really makes me want to pull them all off and clean things up.

I have a Bosch impact driver on the way, and some T30 impact bits. I really don't want to use an extractor and then deal with finding replacement bolts.

Unfortunately these wheels went too long without some TLC, so here I am

 

Whats the rock warrior package? I originally started liking tundras because an uncle had a lifted one back in the day.

This would be why RW wheels need to have the rings pulled from time to time and do some cleaning under there. Pretty evident it never happened here, and the rims are beyond simple cleaning now - more like the entire wheel would need to be refinished in order to run 'ringless', which ain't happening on my budget.

Got that last mudderfokker ring bolt out with an extractor. Planning to pull the other rings off and at least clean things up so it's easier next time around.

Hoping I can find some M8x10 stainless button heads locally to replace some or all of them ... pretty sure I'll have another stuck bolt or three ...

Off road suspension, color matched grille and front bumper, black (or white) rear bumper, TRD forged wheels. I think that’s it, mostly cosmetic.

The rings do not need to come off to do the tires.

 

Kinda figured they didn't but an inexperienced tire shop could still damage them.

I'll pull them off to clean things up ... and I just might PlastiDip them black to hide the scuffs/scratches. I've pretty much chrome-deleted & de-badged my truck other than the rear quarter TRD decals.

Will remount so they can be removed without all the drama next time around.

Really like the look of these wheels - I'll post before/after pics when they're on the truck next week.

If your truck lives in AZ, you might get off easy. What wrecked these wheels was likely moisture & mag chloride that is used to de-ice roads here.

 

It lives in AZ now, but I just bought it a month ago from a guy in Nashville, TN.

I got 3 of 4 wheels done now. Broke 7 impact-grade T30 bits. Had to use the bolt extractor twice (so far).

These last 5 bolts are defiant ... I've broken 7 Torx bits trying to get them off with a socket wrench + leverage tool. Impact wrench did nothing, just broke the tip of the bit right off.

Good times!

Didn't even bother with LocTite when I reinstalled ... instead I gave the threads a squirt of Blaster and didn't snug them too hard. I'll plan to do this task annually when I do wheel rotations.

The more I think about it, I think the rings will look good with black powder coat or anodization.

 

Got the new setup today ... wish I'd gotten these wheels a few years ago, but for some reason I wanted bronze at the time. Those Methods were +18 offset so I had about 1.5" of poke with 295s, which was throwing debris all up the sides of my truck and I have quite a few paint chips to show for it. Tried flares for a while, but they didn't help much and didn't have integrated mud flaps/splash guards which kinda defeats the entire purpose.

This new-to-me set of RW wheels pulls them back in to where there's no poke with 285/75/17 KO2s and the splash guards can catch all the flying debris. I had to bend in the front 'skid plate' corners since they were rubbing at full lock.

Can't decide if I'll get the rings anodized or powder coated black; kinda digging them right now. Dealing with all those seized bolts was a bitch but it was worth it in the end. No issues leaving them on for tire install.
