Statistically, we don't really have any venomous animal threats in Texas. If you were a metastatic cancer patient on heavy chemo with covid and copd, riding on a south bound elephant on a Tuesday, and carrying all of them in your hat, you could probably call 6 dangerous. Nobody's died via coral snake here since the 60's even though it's the most venomous native animal. Copper heads and cotton mouth snakes have only killed 5 or 6 people this century, and at least one of those was due to heart attack at getting bit. Two in Texas from rattlesnakes this century. Nobody's died from a violin spider ever, and none from a black widow in 40 years. Dog attacks, heat stroke, and stealing catalytic converters are all more deadly than snakes or spiders in Texas.

Only 2 venomous snakes in MA. The issue is they are so rare, almost no hospital carries anti-venom, so depending on severity of bite you might die waiting for treatment to arrive.

Outside of that, rabies not withstanding, only bear, coyote or moose really has a chance of taking you down.

We have three. Canebreak rattler, cotton mouth and copperhead. None are aggressive. But for some reason we have African pit viper anti venom.:notsure:

Whenever talk of snakes comes up, I like to share this pic titled “I’m tired of all these monkey fighting snakes on this Monday to Friday tree”.

    Life will do that.
I’m probably not the best to give a synopsis, since life decided I was board or something, and gave me too much to do.

But, you have missed some pretty cool TM stuff.

Other than the “Free fuel and beer for life to every member who posts in this thread between January 23rd and May 5th” promotion that @ToyoMafia ran, nothing much of note really.

This is completely off topic (and unlike me to try to create a topic) but do any of you have a softopper? Strangely enough I value this groups opinions more than a lot of the nerds on this forum :)

    Thanks.

Chewing gum isn't allowed on the street in Japan, so somebody invented Hi Chews. Fruit flavored and chewy, but not like gummy kind of chewy. More like a longer lasting, less sweet Starbursts.

There's 5 or 6 critters here too who will kill you. Fortunately, they're generally all big enough you can see them coming. It's not likely that you're going to unwittingly step on a grizzly bear.

I have one but i don't keep it on all the time. It is invaluable for road trips and vacations. They are incredibly well made and there is zero wind noise with it on. Best of all they look BA when you have it in safari mode (sides rolled up).20210606_073755.jpg

I've seen them somewhere around here. I may have to try them out once I take a break from my candy break. My daughter was noshing on a bag of Peach Sour Patch Kids in front of me yesterday but I didn't break. :muscleflexing:
