Very likely a gopher... Eats rats and mice, and if he's hanging out with you, you have them. Unless he's under foot, might be a good idea to let him stick around.

Worth noting that a coral snake is an exception, both for head shape and eyes. Red on yellow, kill a fellow; Red on black, venom lack. There's a subspecies that lives in southern AZ.

Thats like us with king snakes and garter snakes. If you see them, they're prob eating something you'd not want in your home. I'm cool with garter snakes and try not to harm them since they eat small nuisances like mice and bugs. king snakes will eat any snake including the venomous ones. i've heard if you have a king snake around, they're likely there eating something bigger you'd rather not have. my neighbor has found multiple copper heads at his house, but i've never seen one at ours. i'm not a fan, but i'll leave kings and garters be. the rest of them i'll chase off. i'll kill the venomous ones if i see them.

i've never been good with that saying. i didn't think corals were common around us until a friend posted on FB one that he found and killed. i got online and verified and it was a coral.

Same here. Suburbia seems to be fine for rat snakes, and I'll leave them alone. Haven't really had any venomous snakes around town, though.

The good news is corals are not very aggressive. I’ve seen a few down here and they are usually pretty chill.

We have black snakes around the house and they can stay. They are known for killing venomous snakes so that saves me from having to do it.

I typically don’t trust any snake with markings except a ring neck. The black snakes are a trip because they will act like rattlers if backed in a corner.

we did shoot a cotton mouth a few months ago while out hunting. Three of us walked right over him 2ft away and we noticed him when we turned around. I’ll tell you when you shoot a snake with a 300 it gets the job done.

Am I the only one here that likes sneks? Granted, only venomous ones here are polite and announce themselves. (Rattlesneks)

Snakes are fine, as long as I'm not running a risk of a negative impact; even if it's me invading their space. I'm glad to let them do their thing. I don't like them as pets, especially given what's happened with African and Asian snakes in the Gulf states. There are only a handfull of endangered snakes in the US, and I don't think any are venomous, so if someone doesn't like a snake and sends it on its way, that's fine by me.

I see a snake, it’s dead. They know it. I know it.

A few years ago, there was one that I saw slithering near my shed. I started running to the shed door to get my snake shovel (I now keep it by the back door) but he was closer and got into the shed before I did. He must have found some leaves in there because he was hiding but I could hear him rattle. I left the door open for him to come out and started to do some stuff around the yard. I shit you not, about an hour later, I saw the bastard start slinking out of the shed. He saw me, and put it in reverse, slinking back in. He survived that day but I’m pretty sure I caught up with it later on.

When we were moving from our old house, my daughter and I went back to it to get some stuff. We took a backroad and there was a little swampy area. A snake was crossing the road and I swear it took up most of a lane. I ran over it and in the rear view mirror, I saw it flip up in the air, probably yelled “fucker!”, and then slither back into the swamp. I’m not afraid of much (I’m usually afraid after the fact), but that’s a snake I wouldn’t want to see again.

    Good Mornin', Crew!

Just gotta say, there's nothing like a good pair of scissors. Not sure who needs to hear this today but:

Do yourself a favor and go buy yourself a one of these bad boys:

    https://www.muellersportsmed.com/b2c-us/en/Open-Catalog/By-Product/Tapes-&-Wraps/Super-PRO-11-Scissors/p/01111

This thing is like an industrial age light saber.

It will be the last pair of scissors you ever buy.

    Cuts anything in its path.

You can strap it to nuke and blow up the moon and it will still cut like a sumbitch.
