I know others are having this issue. I have 2600 miles on mine. The fuel gauge went down to 3/4 full and went to full overnight. This happened with 196 miles on it. I went through about 3 or 4 tanks and seemed fine. Last week I filled the tank up to 1/2 full. Next morning it went to 3/4. Filled the tank up, went to 3/4 and then the next morning it was full again. I took it to the dealer again. They had it for 4 days. I got a packet of about 15 pages of the diagnostics they ran etc. They filled the tank up and I picked it up last Friday. Drove about 150 miles and bam, did it again this morning. Has anyone found a solution to this? I have taken this to the dealer more times in 3 weeks than I have in 10 years with several Rams. I am starting to have buyers remorse. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

unfortunately, there is not a well documented true fix I have read of , (tsb, recall), so you’ll have to deal with it a bit longer

part of first year early production woes , Toyota will fix it at some point

I'm having similar issues with my fuel gauge. It actually happened while at the dealer today. I am bringing it in to get looked at in a couple weeks and update this thread if they are able to find a fix.

Are you parking on an incline? If so, try parking the opposite way with nose down. Will usually fix itself. Kinda dumb but the fuel sensor is probably over saturated causing the incorrect reading. Happened to me once or twice whenever I parked on an incline overnight. I noticed it read that i had a full tank when I got in. Went to the store, parked in the opposite direction with nose facing down hill, and in about an hour turned the truck back on and fuel was reading correct. Kinda strange. It's only happened a couple times for me. Normally I park on a flat surface so it hasn't happened since.

Has anyone figured out this issue? This continues to happen. Pretty much weekly. If not twice a week. It's beyond frustrating at this point

I took mine in for it and they did a "hard reset" of the onboard computer but it didn't fix it. They left notes on my account if it happens again. I just haven't had time to get it back in. It doesn't happen all the time but frequently enough it's a pain.

Make sure the dealer notes within the Truck Maintenance history specifics of the issues. Shady dealers will dumb it down only noting - "conducted multipoint Inspection."

I have the same issue. For me it usually reads lower than it should. For example, I'll fill up the tank, put 20 miles or so on it, and the gauge reads that I only have 3/4 of a tank. The next day it'll read Full. very strange but hasn't been a huge deal for me

Same happened to me. I had mine parked at an incline and notice a couple of days later it showed full even though the last time I noticed it was 3/4 full. I’ve since parked it on a level surface and fuel gauge is showing consistently and not fluctuating.

Same with my 2022 limited. Dealer preformed a "procedure" too reset gauge. Was better for a week. Parked on an incline for an hour. When I restarted, the gauge said full again. Really getting aggravated. How long has Toyota been making sending units? It's not rocket science!

Ditto. I was down at a quarter tank and then it showed full next time I started. I took it down and filled it up so I didn’t run out accidentally. Seemed to be okay the next day.

I’d love to hear if there are any factory updates.

I think there's another thread on this buried somewhere - my '22 Limited had the same issues and I took it in, described what I had read on here about the issues and actually had the head tech at my local dealership read that other thread as well. He called Big Toyota and relayed back to me that they are aware of this issue and it's not a hardware thing, it's a software thing. He said Toyota wouldn't likely advertise the release of the software update but to expect it in the coming months and to continue to ask about it before brining in my truck for regular maintenance.

I just bought the 22 tundra on July 4th, my fuel gauge is not reading accurately... I took it to dealership to have it calibrated it worked for 2 weeks and now it's not working again... I have to take back again ! It's annoying ...

can you look and see what your build date is?

since this is ongoing, Im hoping its a software fix that they will let out soon. otherwise, ugh, they are still installing faulty hardware.

It’s crazy how off this gauge is for me. I had a half a tank on the gauge showing once and filled up 26 gallons.

Then, last week I had very little left on the gauge (less than a quarter tank) and showing 90 miles until empty and went to fill up and only got 18 gallons in it.

Should we expect a TSB or recall on the tank readings? Mine is so far off it's hard to believe as well.

I would guess its part of a larger software update.

I bet they are redoing now and testing the hell out of trying to fix a bunch of issues at once

Do you know if Toyota's can do OTA updates? (over the air) Or should I expect to go to a dealer for this, if and when they may roll out updates.

I don't not think toyota does OTA ECU updates, only like media system updates.

When I went to have it checked bec this is the 2nd time , they did a recalibratation but it’s still not working , I took it the 2nd time to the dealership and told me the gauge is working and to take it back again if the issue persist and to take pictures . Apparently it will work every time you fill up the tank, but it’s ridiculous , it should work properly regardless how much you put in the tank

The dealership told me to take pictures or document when it happens in order to create a service bulletin, but who got time to do that .., me personally I don't have time for that ...

Document and it is a PIA to do so. Also, request and check the service record note. The dealer will enter "Multipoint Inspection versus entering the detail on the fuel gauge issue and this is how they get around Lemon Law issues presenting no details on the service concern

I have two continued issues with my December build Tundra. Throttle lag and the Fuel Gauge issue. Thought I had a major issue going on with the Transmission, but fortunately turned out as the Cat Plate needed repositioning-My Fault.

Now just shy of 7K miles. I am in a very busy period at work, but soon will schedule a visit on the two recall notices and then speak directly with the Service manager presenting my notes.

I've been done this road before with another Big three US Car Maker. Calm presentation of the issue with detailed notes works as in the end, received a very nice upgrade from them for my troubles.

July 1st build date on mine so it is an ongoing issue. The way my driveway is I'm always parked on an incline so when I come out in the morning my tanks always reads full regardless of what it read when I shut it off the night before.

I'm just tracking miles to make sure I fill up before I run out.

Great Driveway LOL. Seriously, I have the same issue with mine. Very slight incline. Park and the tank reads full next time I start. Real PIA for sure.

Same here. I have learned to back in every time so that the nose is up!

I have tried the method on other thread to correct the reading, but it has not worked for me.

The method in the other thread worked for me the once that I tried it, but I moved the truck somewhere flat to do it. It only worked temporarily too. After a couple days the gage went back to reading full.
