Hello all, first Tundra, first truck, first post ...

In Rhode Island. Bought my 2001 Access Cab about 18 months ago with 113k miles on it. I love it. But it's old. The last owner was very conscientious, but also did some electrical modifications, and plowed with it.

Long story short, when it rains, I get pools of water in the carpet behind the rear seat belts. On the passenger side drips are visible, but water pools on both sides. It either drains or evaporates after a day or two (no mold or mildew smell or visible). Not splashing up: this happens when the truck is just sitting in the driveway.

I saw a thread that Professional Hand Model did awhile back, blaming it on a non-draining window gasket. (1) There wasn't enough detail on his walk through for an idiot like yours truly, who has never torn apart a rear window, to do with confidence. (2) I'm puzzled by the proximity of body rot almost directly below where the water is pooling.

If this is better treated on another thread, or on a YouTube channel somewhere, I'm happy to go there first. But I thought I'd check with the hivemind to see if any of you fine folks can share your wisdom.

    Function before sparkle.
    This might also help.

I have water coming in the exact same spot. You can peel that carpet back out of the way to keep it from getting wet as a temp solution. I've replaced my 3rd brake light gasket and had no luck also cleaned the window drain out. I think the culprit now is that black piece that goes down the length of the roof and meets the rear window at the seal. Odd place to leak but it's the only thing I have left that others have found to be a problem. I have yet to address it.

Check Pete's video just above your post.

Best thing you can probably do is watch for the leak as you work your way up the rear window slowly with a water hose.

Mine gets a little damp back there when it rains. I put a rag there that absorbs most of the moisture, but wow, yours looks bad. Sorry for that. I better keep an eye on mine now!
