That article was all over the place with it’s ‘facts and data’ to begin with…”2022 is 13/17 mpg?”

…worse is that I learned nothing significant (which was at least my base expectation) from reading it that could remotely factor into a decision.

For comparison, TFL traded their '22 Tundra TRDOR for a '22 Silverado ZR2 6.2l V8. They did a MPG loop from Denver to Moab and back. Weird thing is Andre averaged only 56MPH on the loop. That is NOT realworld driving on that loop, there is no speed limit less than 60 on that loop. So those that are interested in the 6.2l decide if you want a V8 or a TTV6, or a hybrid.

Welp…it all comes down to Russia/China and how the current Geopolitical situation will accelerate a few things that were slowly happening.

In short we are hosed in the short term o_O

I think the production may be spooling up, I had two dealers call me asking if I still was interested.

before you couldn't even get a call back, lol.

anyways, lets go on the QC issues toyota, then we are ready to roll.

Probably also has to do with the "I gotta have the the newest thing" people that were willing to pay anything and take anything have been satisfied as well and now people are willing to wait to get what they want at the price they want.

I am in the latter group, also watching the QC issues too.

I'm glad I don't need a new truck right now. I bought my 2016 with the expectation of keeping it for about 10 years and the way things are going it maybe another 5 years before I can get what I want. I like the GM's, my dad just bought one a year ago and it's a great looking a driving truck, but they do scare me. I know 2 people in the past month or two that have traded in their GM's because they needed new engines. Both of them under 100,000 miles, but out of warranty. One of them had the transmission replaced under warranty as well, but was without his truck for a month or two due to the gm strike a couple years back. I know too many people who have had engine replacements or transmission replacements under 100,000 miles that cause me to keep my distance from them.

the way all these trucks are, tundra included, its going to be extended warranty time no matter what I decide to get. There is just too much to go wrong even besides the big known issues, (lifters, turbos, etc).

I may even just keep my 16, not real sure yet.

Sounds like a lot of hearsay (and some hopes/prayers).
I don’t off-road my truck like some others but I have got to admit that a lot of these mods that involves cutting/removing crash bars and supports in the front end and wheel wells scare me a bit.

Again…nothing I need like some others do (given my daily/weekly uses)…and I do respect that, but would appreciate tow-hooks nonetheless.
I like the low profile design of this but hoping for aluminum preferably to save weight.

Talked to my dealer today. They've sold 27 Tundras so far, not one has had the dreaded turbo issue. 2 had the shutter failure but a software update fixed it and it hasn't happened again. I asked about QC issues and apparently 4 trucks had minor fitment problems with the window trim but Toyota fixed them up and the customers left happy. No complaints of wind noise at this point.

Take that as you will. I have no reason to disbelieve them, this dealer has shot straight with me for 5+ years and some friends for 15+.

I'm in the process of purchasing a 22 Tundra Platinum hybrid and am unfamiliar with the following accessory acronym. Does anybody know what it stands for?

    TRD-PRO,CAP

I like the V8 4Runners and the Seq we have now. There's the old saying "If it ain't broke don't try to fix it." That's where I'm at right now.

tq was nice but i never pulled anything with the v8, wife drives the truck mostly so if we need to pull something we used the truck. we use the 4runner for trips and the truck to pull stuff.

I agree with Acedude, it's just you lol. I miss the V8 every day. I went from an 03 with the V8 to a 2011 with the V6. The V8 was just better all around. I got better gas mileage (granted it was a tad smaller/lighter than this gen), it pulled the boat way better, was quicker to respond, and the transmission wasn't programmed to upshift as quick as possible. It was a blast to drive for an SUV.
