I have the 8 inch display on my tundra and never really experienced any issues with Apple car play until Saturday. Siri usually reads messages that come in or I can say “ hey Siri” and she responds. As of Saturday the icon comes up on the screen but you cannot hear Siri reading the message or any voice at all. Has anyone had to this issue? Also I’m currently running the 1005 software because the stupid truck has never updated.

The head unit allows you to control the volume of Siri and everything else independently. If you adjust the volume while Siri is talking, you'll control the volume for just Siri/Apple CarPlay. Took me a little while to realize this since this is the first vehicle I've owned with integrated Apple CarPlay.

This might sound like a dumb suggestion, but do this if you haven't already:
    1. Start your truck & connect your phone to Apple CarPlay
    2. Trigger Siri by whatever means you like
    3. When you think Siri is talking...turn the volume knob up.
You might have turned down the volume on Siri/Apple CarPlay by accident. Just a thought.

Of course, it might be something more serious than that. Hopefully, it's not.

interesting I have never messed with any settings before. They must’ve done something at Toyota while I had it in to replace the windshield.

I’ve also had my iPhone have issues connecting with CarPlay at times and a “reboot” of my iPhone was required. We run these tiny computers for months on end without turning them off and invariably things get corrupted, services stop working, etc. a good “off-and-on” once a week is always advisable.
