This reminds me of being so low on funds I ran tires pretty bald and sometimes with the wires showing (steel belts).
When people told me that the tires were bad, I'd tell em, "there's no air showing".

@GNTundra , that is really neat information. I started out disappointed in anyone going all serious, but after reading your post I think it's nice to be sharing this forum with people of such varied and highly skilled backgrounds.
    Cool stuff!

The problem I see with that is that the tire isn't on the bead. So you won't be able to pull a vacuum on it. I could try it, I have a vacuum pump and nitrogen. But not with a good tire. My guess is they just let all the air that just comes out on its own and then fill them back up with nitro.

I'll bet if you just let the air out, filled with nitro let it out and fill again the majority of the air would be gone. We use nitrogen to get the air and other non condensensibles out of air conditioning systems. Nitro then pull a deep vacuum and the lines are clean and air free. The nitro alone evacuates most of it.

So, they end up with a part nitrogen/part air mixture? If the mix isn't the same in all 4 tires, won't the truck drive crooked down the Road?

 I don't think so. If you pull out the valve cores and just let the air out naturally they should all have about the same pressure in them. Unless you do one side at sea level and the other at say 10,000 ft.

How steep is steep? You could use a PROtractor to determine that.

Then maybe we could help you get with the PROgram. ;)
