I would like to add some crossbars to my naked roofed 2006 double cab. Anybody know what fits? Both websites say nothing does, but I have seen them on trucks in the wild. Never paid enough attention to how they were installed though.

    Thanks in advance.

I had one using Q clips and Q Towers. Clips to the inside of your door frame. only downside was water getting trapped between them and the paint causing damage to the paint.

if i were to do it again, id spend, arguably the same amount as most yakima and thule racks, the extra cash and go with this style.

I missed the rhino rack my first time through. Thanks for posting that. I am not dyeing to drill holes in the roof, but I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world. Also, it would only be on seasonally for me. In the summer, the tundra mainly drives for recreation and I commute on two wheels. Assuming I start commuting again at some point, I would like to take the rack off for the winter when it isn't needed and I am commuting more.

I think as long as you take it off and make sure to get any moisture out, the yakima racks and such would be fine. hindsight for me was rough lol. I completely agree about drilling holes too, always a last option.

Inno. It’s a Japanese company. I have some. I was looking for Thule, finally found these. I have a 2002.

I havent paid attention to how Yakima mounts to a Tundra but on other cars they suggest putting clear vinyl under the area where the rack feet touches. I think that protects the paint from moisture.

Nope. Inno has two different types of cross-bars; those you found have a channel that accessories fit into. I got the other kind, which is very much like the Thule bars you were probably picturing. They’re rectangular. Accessories clamp on around the bars. I like the set-up fine, and there’s no noticeable wind noise, so I’m pleased.

But I still haven’t been able to do what I want, that I bought these to do, which is to mount an awning. I need to find a heavy-duty attachment clamp to fit around the Inno (or Thule) rectangular cross-bars, and I have not yet found one strong enough for what I do with the truck. But it took me almost 2 years of asking before I stumbled onto these Inno bars (you’re welcome!), so I’ll hope to eventually find what I need. Or someone to fab what I need.

    Thanks Sunnier!

@04DCTundraMan You remember what model/style/number they were? There are a lot of used yakima stuff around and would love to save a few bucks.

Man you’re a few weeks late. Sold my whole set up recently. I had Q towers with round crossbars. The Q Clips I’m not sure which ones they were specifically or if there was a difference. I would think you could find them used online or on eBay. I had great success emailing their customer service, I bet they could tell you exactly what you need. The clips are specific to your door jamb.

Well it looks like for Yakima the answer is Q 24 clips.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I have these from a Mazda 3 with no roof rack. In the Mazda you removed the rain rails and then the Thule feet screwed into little post under the rain rails. While I realize the rain rails on the Tundra might not have those mounting screws, have any of you found Thule feet that fit? Looking on there website it says no.

I didn’t find a Thule foot that fit. That doesn’t mean there isn’t one. I gave up when I realized that I may not be able to fit in the garage with the roof rack.

Nope. According to Thule and various Thule dealers, there isn’t one available for the 1st gen... too many years w/o sales to justify manufacturing.

Inno makes feet that fit. I bought an Inno system, then while researching to attach an ARB awning, I discovered the Thule crossbars and Inno bars are the same or close... so maybe you could get new Inno feet to use with the other parts of your Thule system....

@wingnutted Thanks; that does look like the move.
I have been slowly looking at that style. I would primarily use the bars to carry a canoe, so I would like to raise them above the cab easily and quickly to put the canoe on and then lower them to put the truck in the garage. To further complicate things, it would be great if I could have the bars and the soft top on at the same time. I know they make ladder racks that allow a cap under it, but I haven’t seen any of the adjustable bars.
so basically I’m being real difficult.

@SharkDog Looks like a tough combo. Why specifically a softtopper? Do you mean a soft tonneau cover? Or a soft canopy? I think you can get Yakima adaptors for tonneau covers, but honestly I have no idea on the soft canopy. 1st gen Tundras, although absolutely awesome in terms of size and power, have pretty minimal aftermarket support once you get back basic racks, sliders, etc

Let me know if you find a clever solution, and good luck!

And depending on how much having those options means to you, and your overall budget, you might just want to find a local welder and get something custom fabricated that meets your exact needs...

    @wingnutted

A soft canopy and specifically a soft topper because I already own it. I like that I can take it completely off in a few minutes or fold it down in even less time. My truck carries house work stuff, water and fishing stuff, camping stuff, dogs, and/or a dirt bike depending on what we’re up to.

It would be nice to have the canoe on the rack, the paddle board, fishing gear, and camping gear in the bed covered by the soft topper for a weekend.

good call on the local welder. I’ll have to put my money where my mouth is. Which in my case probably means buy some used Yakima stuff and deal with it.

I got the same info, but they support 2007 forward with the same fit kit. Is the design of the 2006 roof and door openings significantly different from 2007+? Tempted to just try the 2007 kit and see, but sure don’t want to waste money or have it fly off at high speed!

Already have a 1986 Thule square bar rack that had rain gutter mounts and hoped to reuse as much as possible. Saw Inno feet that are compatible to 2006 and their square bars are supposedly the same dimensions as old Thule square bars.

Yes, 2007 is the demarcation year that separated the 1st and 2nd gen Tundras. They’re nothing alike. Thule doesn’t have a current option for 1st gens. Inno look and do everything Thule does; what’s your hesitation to buy Inno, that offers a rack system specific to your truck?

I see the Inno parts that fit the 2006 and their crossbars are supposedly the same dimensions as the older Thule crossbars so I could probably reuse.

My reservation is mainly that I’m cheap and want to spend as little money as possible and reuse as much of what I already own as I can!

My desire is to be able to transport long surf fishing rods in my ski rack. They’re too long to fit in the bed with a Tonneau cover and will fit diagonally inside the cab but I’ve been clumsy enough to break a rod or two by closing the door on them.

My new-to-me Tundra replaced a long-bed 1990 F-150 with a cap and a split rear window and transport of long rods was no issue. May look into a used cap someday but would like to be able to open the Tundra rear and cap front windows to pass the rods through but still have a weather-tight seal. Haven’t really looked into that option yet.

For transporting long fishing rods, I recommend taking a look at rod racks used by most folks using long (12-15 ft) double handed fly rods. I haven't kept up on the latest offerings, but Sumo rod carriers seem to be mentioned the most in the fly fishing mags. Not cheap though. I see Sumo makes a suction cup version and one with magnets. I've always used a magnet rod holder but I think the suction cup version work fine. Suction cup is necessary for vehicles with aluminum hoods. Magnets work on Tundras.

Not too surprised I suppose to see a true surf fishing rod rack. Seasucker looks nice but wow...I thought Sumo's were spendy at about $170, but cheap compared to $499 Seasucker. I will say the fly fishing racks like Sumo's do not have near the width and corresponding rod capacity of the Seasucker. I could fit 4 fly rods on a Sumo style, but not sure how many surf rods that would translate to.

Yo!! Finally someone with an access cab who has crossbars... what are the exact model and specs on your INNO setup. I found out that I would need Q107 clips for Yakima Q Towers, but from my vast research it seems that they are rarer than Sasquatch. Thought I would look for INNO, lemme know what the exact model numbers are so I can go hunting.

Sorry, Bud, I don't have that info handy. I can say, when I bought 'em from a place that orders and sells racks from several makers, the sales guy looked in his system for Inno for my 2002 Tundra Access cab and got made-for-the-truck components. So you can either contact an Inno sales rep or try to navigate through a site for Inno.

And, while you might be tempted to bitch me out, let me share, I was stumped for a long time trying to overcome this same problem. Which is why I finally found a retail shop that does this, and threw money at the problem.
