    Hi everyone,
Looking to replace the exhaust in my 2001 Tundra access cab. It’s a V6 3.4
I would like to get a magma flow muffler and I need the exhaust after the Y Pipe.
Dealer wants about 1700 without muffler(y pipe to muffler)
I called some auto parts stores in the area like parts authority. I was told to look under my hood. At sticker. If it says California emissions then exhaust will be a lot more. Got a price 1200 from that parts store. They stated if I put anything else then I will have codes pop up.
Dealer didn’t mention anything about this. Other stores I got prices for about 900 without muffler

So where can I buy exhaust after Y pipe and not have any headaches or codes?
    TIA

I paid an exhaust shop $100 for cat-back pipes with flanges for my s10 blazer. It cost $100 for my ‘97 4runner and i used a chevy silverado muffler.

oh, california… yea, id imagine it’s 10x more expensive. Feel lucky if you can find anyone to do it at all. Dont you know how much cancer the pipes and welding will expose everyone too?

    https://www.hottexhaust.com/magnafl...al-same-side-exit-performance-exhaust-system/

keep it stock. V6’s sound like garbage with loud pipes.

Why do you want to replace it? Are you looking for performance, or is your old exhaust rusted out?

    What State are you in?

After Y pipe. The 3 connections for flanges are rusted out and leakin. I found someone willing to repair the 3 spots for $400. But. If it will cost me a little more I rather get a stock exhaust. And maybe a magnaflow muffler. Nothing crazy
The exhaust is rusted so I’m. Not sure how long the rest will last.

Yeah I had some aluminumized steel exhaust pipes put in two years ago. Completely covered in surface rust. First the welds which are mild steel rust and then it quickly spreads to the rest of the pipe.

If you get stainless steel put in, make sure they use stainless steel filler feed rod in their setup when welding.

I don't think he has anything for the first gen V6. The V6 is a bit different.

@Mhagha I would probably just have a shop run new pipe from the cat back. Go with the same diameter as the original or as close as you can. Get the muffler you want and probably get a resonator as well. You'll probably be in around $600.

My T100 with the 3.4 had a Magnaflow on it when I bought it, in California, no codes, no emissions problems.
I don’t recall the exact setup, I believe it was shop or previous owner fabricated, single pipe bolt on with flange, after cats, dumped behind axle. It sounded good.

Lifetime warranty, though? Maybe it's one of those things where they make you jump through major hoops to fulfill on the warranty?

When a hole rots through it or a baffle goes inside, that's when it's end of life and not covered anymore.

Plus even if it is, there's probably a disclaimer that it must be installed by an authorized dealer who will perform the replacement on your dime for the labor.

Hopefully Advance Auto will honor it. Ideally Toyota parts, but less than 200 (plus free same day delivery! What? Yup. 4 hours after online order it arrived! Weird…) vs @500 is too tempting. Maybe Ill paint it, even though some say they rust from the inside.
Most likely Ill just let it be and see what happens.
Don’t see a weep hole in the original but walker has one. Hmmm.

It's too bad you cannot find a custom exhaust shop because I KNOW they sell flanges that will enable you to bolt up from the CAT back for the V6 engine since it was used in both the Tundra and Tacoma. Unfortunately they don't have one for the V8 model.

Also, you may want to check the condition of the pipe from the CAT back. I replaced both my muffler and resonator after 10-12 years only to find the pipes going from the CAT back are paper thin and will rust through in a few years as well.

My next rodeo will be to just replaced everything from the CAT back with custom 304 stainless welded with using a MiG welder with stainless steel feed wire and special order stainless steel 02 bungs for the downstream sensors.

This was a simple bolt on for my v8. If I was a billionaire I’d have a custom stainless carbon fiber titanium turbo exhaust, but I’m not so I don’t.
