First question as dealer gave me a blank look.

It sure looks like I can NOT get (for the foreseeable future and setting aside COIVD crap) a:

    #1. Leather TRD CrewMax 6.5

    or a

    #2 Leather TRD Double 6.5

Basically I want leather/TRD with a real bed....looks like to get leather/TRD you get the midget bed. Tell me it ain't so.

    Welcome from NY.

It says you can get SofTex seats........

Toyota's SofTex interior is a synthetic leather seat material that is designed for wear, easy cleaning and resisting spills. SofTex weighs about half as much as genuine leather and is soft to the toucI.

You could always get leather covers from John.

I took a look at Toyota's 'build you tundra' web site and it looks like it is only available with fabric or Softex. Softex is a synthetic artificial leather which they claim is actually better than real leather.

It looks like Jim LE beat me to it.

softex is nice. And it will not be long before you can get aftermarket leather like katskinz and other vendors. They may be available already. And aftermarket leather is usually better than what toyota uses. I'd choose either the softex or aftermarket before toyota leather.

Softex is nice and does wear well. However, it does not breathe which means sweaty back/ass, especially on longer trips. At least that's how it is in our 4R. That's the only downside - unless they are now offering perforated softex with ventilation. I mention that because I see no reason why they couldn't do that if they wanted to.

Katzkin already has the 2022 Tundra listed on its website. So I assume it already exists.

Is your issue that softex is not real leather, or that your dealer is saying they can't get the combo?
If they're saying they can't get the combo it's due to your location.

I just built a sr5 crew 6.5 bed with leather and trd on the website which means at some point that combo will be/can be allocated in my area. I had to step up to TRD off road premium with options package to keep the softex but it's there.

I believe, in previous gens, leather was only available for Platinum and Limited. And TRD wasn’t available for those, after the 1st gen….

1794 has TRD Offroad and leather. That’s the only trim that doesn’t get softex and has offroad package available.

You don’t build Toyota’s. They have limited options, and the dealer just finds one that is in the queue with the specs you want.

I think their point was literally build it yourself, as in, install your own leather seats so you have a true unicorn.
