Rear seals holding up?

i blame myself for the cv’s but mr.bridgebuilder coulda helped more. Whoda thunk that was a big hammers job.

Seen a few dana 60 swaps ‘floating’ around.
No word on the 8” or LC front diff swap yet.

 

Gotta fully adjust your drums and lspv for the lift, and that we walked the adjusters way in.

Are you happy with toitech, tire size, and truck height? + when are we setting up a 100 shot when floorboarded above 3400rpm, but under 5krpm?

 

The axles just clunked right in. I got the splines lined up and just gave it a big shove. I did have to do the passenger seal twice. I need to double check it for leaks again. Driver side I've had no problems with.

The clip design on the end that goes into the diff kinda confuses me on how it works overall. Don't really know what keeps it from falling out. Seems easyish to pull it out right after you put it in but then if you drive on it for a bit it's harder to get out. I guess that snap ring rotates when you drive and pulls out a bit to hold everything in.

Still not a big fan of how the seal is pretty exposed but that's what we get saving some bucks.

 

From my understanding, it’s impossible to seat the driver side seal too far. Essentially when it bottoms out, it’s in place.

I’ve replaced that one twice and have had zero leaks on my truck.

Now the passenger side… That’s a different story. I need to take mine apart and do that one again because it can be driven too far.

I swear to you that there was something wrong with those CVs because of the force that we had to use to get both of them in. Remember that we even took the circlip off of the driver side one and still had to BFH it to get it to go in.

 

Yeah, they're very nice. I drove over a few curbs and drops and it just plants. No bouncing around like stock, but it's also not harsh. It's hard to explain.

I also see a regear in my future. Truck's a dog now. Pokey pokey pokey.

What's weird is the drivers side is leaking too, leading me to think it's the axles themselves since Josh was good on the pass seal, and the drivers side doesn't have one.

But at the same time, if Nick doesn't have any leaks, I'll be at a loss. I'm pretty sure CVJs are in my future...

 

I just checked mine today during pre trip oil change and driveshaft lube. No leaks.

The drivers doesn't have a funky seal like the pass side. You just smack it in. I kinda worded that weird.

 

Not yet. I'm gonna chill out and drive it as is for a little bit.

Man, I've been meaning to chat with you. I'm ready to start that swap, but I wanted to do my diffs at the same time, so the truck would be sitting for a bit. F/R lockers and 4.56s. Maybe 4.88s. I've got the UCAs, AAls, full interior LEDs, head lights, timing belt, radiator, headers, and uhhhhhh, I need an oil change. I'd be down for Panhandlemonium part 2, electric Boogaloo seeing as how I'm a horrible procrastinator. I just need a little more change for the diffs.

 

Thankfully no video to be found. I actually had to restock us on beer. @MrDirtjumper showed up on Friday and proceeded to pound about half that makers mark in about an hour. That 4 am morning about killed me.
