Does anyone have an OEM part number for black window trim? Thank you!Screen Shot 2022-04-25 at 9.45.36 PM.jpg

Some of my OEM black trim pieces just showed up, and I will have them this afternoon, so I am anxious to see how that turns out. I also ordered the black tailgate "handle" cover. I think the chrome on the tailgate bothers me the most for some reason.

Are you planning on tackling this on your own or having a Toyota/body shop do it? Thinking of doing the same but haven't seen any write ups yet on how to replace these.

I plan on doing it all myself. I have had quite a bit of experience pulling apart my last 2 Tundras, so I am not too worried about it. Hopefully it is just some small clips that hold all that in place. I am still not sure about how to take apart the tailgate handle, but will fool around with it until I figure it out. Hopefully someone has already figured it out and posted it on Youtube.

Tailgate handle is easy, remove all torx, lift panel, remove 2 nuts, apply pressure on a few tabs and it pops out.

Just took this picture, you can see the 2 bolts, the on each end is a little tab that holds it in place.

Which panel needs removed? The "cap" on top of the tailgate, or the large panel on the back of the tailgate (bed side)?

Large panel of the tailgate. You can access the backside of the lock.

I received one of my black window trim pieces, and that doesn't look like it's going to be as much of a pain as I thought it was going to be. Just need to get the rest of them in!!

And to actually answer the OP's question LOL, I do have the part numbers for the black trim, and when I get home, I will respond with that info. FYI, they are the gloss black like the tailgate handle in the photos in this thread. I think the gloss does look a little better than flat/unpainted black because all the black that is around the windows and on the mirrors is gloss black.

What is weird is that the black parts are more expensive than the chrome parts for some reason. Maybe because it is paint instead of chrome plating??

I'm not one of these guys that hates all chrome, but I agree that the chrome tailgate latch is horrible. If mine ever comes in, replacing it with a painted one will be one of my first projects.

Thanks for all of the responses! BTW, not sure if there's any interest but happy to shoot out my chrome pieces for the cost of postage if anyone wants them as soon as I order up and switch them out. Still looking for the window P/N's if anyone has them handy, thanks!

I might be interested in them. I'd like a set I could try to paint myself and see how they come out to swap out the chrome.

THANK YOU! Awesome link. My Tundra Limited came off the lot with a really odd combination and a line item for the black out package which I assume was a dealer add on. It's like they just stopped before doing the back bumper and windows.

EDIT- just ordered. It's certainly pricey for some plastic trim. Not blaming the vendor one bit (in fact he gets my business for putting together that post for simplicity), but yeah I'm willing to donate my chrome ones to whoever thinks they can provide an A++ DIY alternative.

Hi all, was hoping to do the install this weekend. Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon. I have an early PM about the chrome window trim pieces, if that doesn't work out for whatever reason, I'll circle back to the other responses for them in order. I'm guessing with the 3-4 responses so far, they are going to be gone.
