I'm hoping the forum can come through for me again! I have taken my truck to 2 dealers and they are unable to provide any substantive information. When I put my truck in 4WD Hi or 4WD Lo, the entire truck jerks - similar to if you try driving with the emergency brake on. This halting/jerking only occurs when I am MAKING TURNS in the vehicle with 4WD on. I never have any issues while driving straight with 4WD on.

Is this normal? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

You are NOT supposed to drive in 4wd and crank the steering wheel to full lock in either direction. And never use 4WD on any dry surface with positive traction.

Its totally normal if you are turning in 4WD in conditions that don't allow the wheels to spin independently, like on a totally dry road. I would avoid doing this as binding up the diffs can cause damage.

There has been many threads started on this. 4 WD no worky to good on dry concrete roads. The 4x4 works just fine it’s the turning that makes it do all that funny stuff.

There is even videos out there explaining the process.

First time 4x4 owners find this out and think there is something wrong,,, but it is fine. Do not turn on dry concrete in 4 wheel drive. It’s ok if you are going straight but do not turn sharp.

The jerking is just you tearing your drivetrain apart as you cause it to bind up while turning on dry pavement in 4x4. Please don’t. In a turn the outside tire has to turn faster than the inside tire, but when it’s locked in 4x4 the drivetrain does not allow that difference in speed to happen which results in binding, terrible jerking and tire screeching.

I believe it voids the warranty as well.

Kind of weird that 2 dealers service shops couldn’t provide you that info about turning in 4x4
